What will your next MINI be?

Having had my Clubman S for almost two months now (they grow up fast!), I'm already pining for my next MINI. I'm kinda thinking a couple years down the line, keeping my Clubman S as my commuter, and buying a Cabrio S or a Cooper S Hardtop to mod and have as a fun "weekend car"

What will be your next MINI? And when?

It's funny, I used to agree with you on that. But having driven my MINI and other people's MINIs, I've become addicted to the brand. I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling that way!

But maybe I should change the question to, what will your next car be?

agreed! the mini is by far the most fun car ive owned to date. Ive owned everything from a 26 model T street rod to a 71 GTO convertable, amongst other muscle, and custom cars along the way.

But i think the Elise will nudge out the cooper in the fun category.

We've already gotten several next MINIs. Now, we're thinking of keeping the current set for a while, we like the R56s. I'll see what he next refresh brings in about 2011. By that time Tristan's included maintainance will be running out.

I'm thinking it would nice for Hubby to get a JCW MCCS, we will have to wait, Molly is less than 3 Months old.
2011 sounds like a Good Year!!

I've had my Clubman since February and after the first drive I knew I had to have this in a Cabrio too. So when my BMW sells or after I finish paying off Otto, there will be a second MINI in the garage. I hope to never live without one or two again

We are trying to hold out for the SUV or crossman or
whatever it is called or will be called for my wife.

As for me the next time I buy a car I don't think it
will be a car. We'll be using jetpacks or anti gravity boots
or teleportation or something.

A Cooper D or similar. I'd love to see MINI do something even more significant in the fuel economy/emissions arena. They can brag about getting 37 mpg all they want, but frankly that is not good enough. (fortunately Coopers can exceed that my a wide margin)

Oh, so that's YOU with the astro black cooper always parked behind the Dorado!

Good lookin car, bud.

I agree with others, 2011 sounds like a good year to make another purchase... if I can hold out that long! In the mean time, I'll continue enjoying my Clubbie. I don't see the joy of driving this car ending anytime soon, fortunately.

Yeah, I second that one.

Drove one as a loaner when they had my Mini in for the possible cold start deal. I loved it. Drove it around for two days in very nice weather.

I'll never have anything else but a MINI. As for specifics on the next one, and when, that'll require some thought.

I was wondering about that myself. However with the way the price of Diesel is going, it might be a wash by the time it comes to the states anyway.

I'd be interested to see what they can do with the fuel economy as well. I'm satisfied with my fuel economy, and obviously getting 37 mpg is probably the biggest reason why MINIs are selling so well right now. But 37 mpg wont be considered "great mileage" for long, I have a feeling.

X2,
I to wonder what the advantage of a diesel would be.
They generally cost a few thousand more then there gas engine counter parts. the cost of diesel is at least 1.50 per gal more,
they are more expensive to service, and are generally a little slower (production vehicles anyway), and are so much noisier.

I'm just curious, what is the appeal? and, or advantage?
Ican understand a diesel truck for hauling, and work, even gas mileage, but a mini?
anyone?

As far as im concerned, mini gets great gas mileage as it is. what other "economy" type car offers this much fun, and style?
All the vehicles i've ever owned have been street rods and customs, so 15mpg was a lot to me. When i got the mini and saw 30+ wow! thats amazing!

Well it seems that diesel cars can offer 2 or 3 times the gas mileage, and much lower emissions, and are becoming less noisy and easier to service. Ultimately, it seems like diesel engines are moving in the right direction. That being said, it seems that the price of diesel may adversely affect the success of diesel cars in the US.

I agree with you entirely though. There are many cars out there that get 30+ mpg, but absolutely none that even get close to rival the fun-factor of the MINI. That's what makes it such a fantastic car for so many people. That's why it surprises me that people are even buying the Smart Car. The MINI gets almost the very same gas mileage, in a package a lot more fun. Sure it's more expensive, and I guess that answers my question. But it's for all those reasons that I don't want to buy different vehicle, ever again!

I wondered about the smart car choice myself, the mini is much more car for the same money (almost). I think the smart starts at just a little over 11K, but I heard it can be scary getting on the highways because it takes so long to get up to speed.
my 9 yr old loves them, he claims he can drive them because there so small

I'll second that.

The next one will be my husbands, so it's his choice [or so I'm letting him think!]. I do want a convertable with a manual transmission. That one will be a while, unless hubby wants to keep his Element and get the 2nd Mini as "our" car. Then he can build it all with my input being the cabrio/stick.

I read an article I forget where that with the new EPA
regulations on diesel emissions that diesel engines will
be needing super complicated and expensive emissions controls.

Impossible to repair costly if it goes out with no warrenty.

It was a short article so I don't have all the details.

Such a BA car for sure......until it melts to the ground from the turbo overheating after you park like my friend who paid $35k for his. We were in class, heard sirens all over the place and wondered what was going on, walked out.........poof......car was smoldering...........Yeah he cried, seriously.

But anyways, I will trump your RX-7 with a sleeper car known as a Toyota Supra TT (2jz-gte 3.0 motor, changed to single turbo, 750-1000 hp) .........my absolute dream car! Oh yeah, and my next car for sure, since I did say the Supra is a "dream" car, will be a MINI GP.

It's already in effect. I do lettering on a lot of big rigs and a lot of truck companys were trying to buy up all the 07's because the 08's now are loaded with EPA equipment that adds thousands to the already inflated 150K price tag. Plus on top of that, the new ones now have to go through emissions which the previous did not.

Next MINI would be:
Cabrio-S
Manual transmission, sport package
BRG, beige leather interior, black top (but I'd go nekkid aaaaallll the time)

But this is a way down the road. Piper's still my girl.
