Checkerboard decisions

Well I have my order typed in and ready to submit on the Cooper Flags website. It's expensive, so I'm giving pause to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

You can see in my sig the design I scoped out for my ride. I've been second guessing myself for weeks due to people around me in real life turning their nose up at the idea of a checkerboard scheme on my car. Of course everyone has an opinion..... naturally.

I saw Twister's design for a black and flat black checkerboard roof decal that made me consider going that route. However, I have the mirrors, scuttles, and even the valve stem covers of the tires ordered in Black and White checkers -- so I'm thinking it wouldn't match and make sense with those.

I've had days were I thought I'd just go back to a red mini with a black roof and be done with it. Then I see one out and about and think it needs more umph to make it stand out.

/sigh. Here I am... stuck on looking at my order screen and not clicking the submit button. I have to make a decision soon, as I'm about two weeks out from delivery and I need to give Cooper Flags time to get the decal to me if I'm going to go that route.

I'd say black-flat black would be too subtle and would somewhat clash with the black-white checkering elsewhere. I'd go black-white checkering (7 or 9" squares). Are you having the dealer install this?

Just my $0.02.

Not sure the dealer would install this since it's not a factory decal and they send all their work to another place to be done.

I was going to have a tint shop here in B'ham do it.

The design in your sig looks way cool.

I like checkerboard, and it comes in handy for down time while motoring:

Yeah, I would have thought so, too. I was just trying to gauge why the urgency.

Urgency is that I'm trying to slide this in while I'm getting the car so as to not run into budget conflicts or priority conflicts with the wife.

Checkers

You can never go wrong with Chili Red and checkers. Good choice.

Pull the trigger on the checkered roof. Your other checkered items are small and your MINI will not be overstated.

I know you've seen my pics, but take a second look if you're not sure. Your MINI will look almost just like mine. I have the roof, all three mirror caps, wheel center caps, valve stem covers, license plate frames... all checkered.
More interior and engine compartment checkers but those are not part of the exterior scheme so it's not overdone, IMO.

If you don't do the roof now, you can always do it later. And I assure you, you WILL do it later. You have the checkers in your blood now. Done deal.

You are right. Trigger pulled on the 7 inch checks.

So as of now I'll have:

7 inch roof
Side mirrors
checker scuttle
checker valve caps
black bonnet stripes
Rooster Red interior

Btw CR -- I saw a car similiar to our look out at the mall in Birmingham this weekend. Didn't have side scuttles though -- and had white bonnet stripes

Nicely done. You won't regret it. That MINI will grab eyes wherever you go.

Will there be those who don't like it ? Sure... but they'll be a small minority and none of their names are on the title, so who gives a tiny little rat's butt ?

You're right. And most of the folks that made comments to me in the first place don't really understand the whole Mini thing anyway.

Do it yourself for cheaper. Also go with big squares :D I did mine in 12".

It's a terrible pic, but you can see them at least:
