Loaner Car

OK. I know its a good idea to down grade the loaner so owners will appreciate their MINI more, but why o why did you have to give me a kia spectra to replace my MCS...???????

And why do I see all these nice BMW loaner cars like X3's and 335i's, but the two MINI owners who pull in this morning get a Kia and a Nissan?

Just a thought, if I was to think about getting a larger car in the next few years.... wouldn't you want to show off your own, both the cars and your service?

I don't care if their done with my MINI today, I am going back to free her tonight.

I drove around in a Chevy Aveo (manual windows and only a radio) when my car was at Mini of Sterling. What dealer are you using?

I've had three loaners so far, MC '05 standard, MCS convertible standard, and MC '07 automatic. As far as I know, my dealer uses only MINIs as loaners.

My dealership always gives me a MINI - they know me - I do have to wait two to three weeks when I make the appointment but I always motor around with a MINI - last week I had a '07 MCA for three days-

Once because of the SA screw up I got an X3 for about a week.. I was missing my MINI so much !!!

We were given an '07 Cabrio for 3 Days while the Dealership mis-ordered the Chrome Rings on Molly's Door Speakers. It was a stick...and I haven't driven a stick in 25 years.

I got an Escort. Some dealers keep loaners (so you get a MINI) and others, like mine, contract with third party, like Hertz in my case.

wouldn't you want to show off your own, both the cars and your service?
Maybe they want to show you what it's like to drive a POS so that you'll never think of leaving the MINI family.

Mini and BMW North Scottsdale use Toyotas. I remember my 6'6" husband was really unhappy to leave his M3 and get a car he couldn't even fit. He had me make a sign for the back window that his real car was an M3. The 120-mile trip home and back to pick up his car was torture for him--physically and emotionally!

When my car was in service they gave me a Cooper convertible... To bad that it was during the winter. However, I did enjoy the automatic sunroof in the convertible top.

Sorry you feel that way about your loaner from MINI of Sterling - look at it from the plus side, at least you're still able to get back and forth to work while your car is out of commission. Sorry we didn't have a MINI/BMW for you as a loaner, we keep a certain number in rotation that the dealership has to pay for - you're lucky there's an Enterprise facility onsite.

The first time we took our MINI back for service all we got for a loaner was just a Z4 convertible. We were going to go shopping while waiting for ours to get done but never got to it, man I liked driving that car around. I wonder why they wouldn't trade the our MINI for the Z4?

when i had my porsche 987 (a boxster - not the big dog!!!) the dealer i bought from (80 miles away) would give me a mazda 6 as a loaner (and as i remember, i had to pay for it). the dealer only a few miles away actually gave me (at no charge ) a mercedes. the bmw i drove b4 getting the mcs, that dealer gave me a mercedes also. i have a feeling when i take my mcs in for some last minute service b4 the warranty expires i'll end up renting whatever is the lowest cost pos at the nearby rental car facility.

Come on, don't hate on the Spectra, it's a good car.

MINI is the first manufacturer that's given me FREE loaners when my car was in for routine/warranty service. I've been offered the chance to rent their "loaner" for $25/day when my Olds was in before. The dealer I bought my MINI from gave me a MC Cabrio once, and the dealer I use for service now has promised me loaners if I need them. They just opened - so I don't know how many MINIs they have but they have lots of Bimmers and Jags. I'd take a Spectra though (even a Rio!), anything to get me to where I have to be for a day or two.

Please remember that MINIUSA doesn't require dealers to give you ANY loaner, it is an individual perk if they do at all. Both MINI dealers in Houston have MINI loaners although I suspect if they run out you would get an Enterprise car. I do believe it is a great sales tool though to give the brand you're servicing if at all possible. When I had my E46 M3 I always enjoyed trying out the Z4's, X3's, 3 series ragtops, etc that I got for loaners. The first time I took my Cayman in for service I went for a Cayenne just to try something different, was less than thrilled the next time I came in and they had sold all their Porsche loaners and I now got a Mazda 3.

My MINI dealership gave me a freakin' Pontiac G5 for a loaner when I took it in. I was in pain for 2.5 days. Yeah, it was very nice that they even bothered to loan me a car, but a G5? Really? I mean, yeah, it has two doors... but that's the only thing it has in common with a MINI.

I recently took my MINI in for some electrical craze (see thread about windows rolling down on their own! YIKES!) and was given a MINI loaner from MINI of GR. Totally excited as I wasn't sure what to expect. I felt spoiled then, but have to admit that I will have higher expectations now.

Here's the loaners I got when I brought my car in.

Blue 2008 MCS - 2 weeks
Silver 2008 MC - 3 weeks
Ford Focus - 4 days (They had reserved a MINI for me but the person who was suppossed to bring it back, didn't, they then traded it for the Black MCS 4 days later, when it came back in)
Black 2008 MCS 3 weeks

I had body work done and had to use rental reimbursement- got a Mazda 6, which handles like a cow compared to the Mini.
When they did a detail they gave me a Clubman loaner. He wanted to give me an MCS but I asked for a Clubman to try it out.

I got an Aveo too when mine was in for servicing last year. I have no idea who GM was marketing that p.o.s. to, but it definitely illustrates in no uncertain terms why they're in the shape they're in, because they have no idea how to build a small car.

to those of us who appreciate a well built small or large car that is ergonomic and doesn't look like a tonka truck it's definitely easy to believe GM and Ford have no idea what they're doing. but, i think they actually have figured out how to make really stupid cars for a mindless population that thinks big stupid looking buttons and ***** and tonka truck lines are modern and cool. i also can't tell you how many GM/Saturn/Ford owners have praised their cars that despite being in the shop often - "it was covered under warranty". oh and i love the justification to not buy american is b/c parts are easier to find or labor is cheaper - i guess you would justify those claims when you are often buying parts and paying for labor on your "american - made" hunk of steel.

i remember driving a mid 90's cavalier once and admiring that despite i'm on 5'8", i sat in the car with the top of the windshield actually below my eye line - maybe that gave me a better view of the 4000 lb hood or finer appreciation of the monstrous, plastic dash. and the seat pushed me into the door so i definitely appreciated the 10000lb doors!

Back when I replaced the clutch in my first MINI, my local Bimmer dealer gave me 325i for a loaner. It was really nice. Actually, my R56 reminds me of that car (the 325i that is).

Got a new 09 MCS from HasselMini NY as loaner with only 9 miles on clock! Apparently they install some nice interior/exterior accessories in the last minute, so the fit and finish is not that great.
