I haven't seen the original in quite awhile. Got both versions for movie night tonight.
My Oxy Blue Mini is shipboard, almost to the Panama Canal, so I need a fix until it arrives..

I'd rather be driving like "the Italian Job" than watching them drive.

I watched the classic version recently...
I fell asleep.

I bought the original on Ebay--about $6 including shipping, IIRC. I'll bet they've got the new one, too.
P.S. Going to where they filmed it in the morning...

I've got a bid in for the newer version. So far it's at $.33, plus about $3.50 shipping. We'll see if I get it. If not, seller's got another listing...

I had to watch them after ordering my MCS and hearing so much about them. I didn't care for the first (classic) version; I didn't think it was funny, just seemed odd. The newer one was fun though.Originally Posted by minihune

Say it's not so, SFO..
The movie can drag as it builds to the chase scene. And of course it's British..
But when you consider what they did to film it, and got away with, I mean they basically turned downtown Turin off for a day for the traffic jam sequence. Push burning vehicles off the Italian alps? no problem. Drive down a 19th century Hotel's carpeted stairways? Go ahead. Drive all three Minis and a Fiat on the roof of the Aero Museum? We'll help build the ramp to get you up there.. Run your Minis in our brand new sewer system? Sounds great, why not try to do a roll in it? ( They tried, twice.. ).
By today's over the top action films, I find the 1st. version Italian Job a pure joy. And the finish, to me, is priceless.
It's not everyone's cup of tea though..

I like the original Italian Job. It's different and I thought it was funny. "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off"
