Longest wait at the VDC? [w/out extra options]

I was reading the thread about the tour of the Port Hueneme VDC and saw the post that was listed about additional reasons a Mini could stay at the VDC longer [software update, damage during shipping, etc].

My car was offloaded from the Trianon on 4/7. The dealer and the OL both list my car as being at the VDC, but no one seems to know why or when I'm going to get it. The only extra option I had added was the iPod integration, which I can't imagine takes 2+ weeks to install.

I have heard about shipmates who are in other states who have already taken delivery. And shipmates going to the same dealer as me who took delivery 2-3 days after the boat discharged them.

I was just wondering if there was anyone here who had the same experience I am having. I'm curious to see how long the delay was and what [if anything] the dealer gave as an explanation.

Thanks!

As being one of those Shipmate Ivygirl you already know how I feel!!! AND you're in CA which makes absolutely NO sense as to why LUCY has not appeared. Chin up!!!

Mine took a little while from the ship to the dealer, I think at least two weeks. Sometimes there are just a lot of cars on the boat, and SOMEONE's has to be the last one off!

Hope everything is cool and you get yours soon! Have you called the dealer to check?

What is interesting is that the WW website shows the arrival and departure dates for the ships, and they are usually one (1) day apart.

It's almost unheard of for a cargo ship to take longer than 24 hours to unload and reload for the outbound trip. These things are so expensive to operate, they can't be allowed to sit in dock for any time at all. In fact the captains have so much paperwork to do, they usually never even get onto solid ground. There's an endless stream of customs and port people back & forth.

But just because the ship got unloaded, doesn't mean your mini has left the port yard yet. Same rule applies. Someone is last out. Sorry you have to wait. Hope I'm not in the same situation here in about 6-8 weeks. Probably going to go order mine either today or tomorrow.

We are going to the dealer this afternoon to see if they have any information. The last time we talked to them [Monday] no one had any idea what the hold up was.

I never thought of being the last one off the boat, etc. Thanks for the alternate points of view!

The iPod was a dealer installed option on my car... I know that doesn't help ya with Lucy. Email them yet?

Caulyne -- I had problems with my email yesterday, I wouldn't let me open it, so I never got to send the email. Since we are going to the dealer today, I'm going to see what they say. The email will get sent though.

And I like the name you decided on for your Mini.

Well, we'll be waiting to find out what happens!! Good luck and keep us posted!! Lucy needs to come home!

(Yeah.. I think it's Fitz/ Mr. Darcy unless something else totally grabs me. I think it is a boy. Which is just great. Husband, son, Fred the dog, and I am totally outnumbered!)
