Morning Surprise!

This morning before work I pull Mickey out of the garage (he's not my daily driver) and get out to load up the car and notice on the passenger side that he was keyed from the front of the door all the way to the boot. Its not something to buff out, b/c its all the way to the metal.

The last time I drove him was on Monday to the bar with my significant other to meet up with friends for St. Patty's Day. We left late and didn't notice anything b/c of the low light.

I really don't understand what causes people to do this, or what goes through their mind. I didn't double park and our cars are small so they don't take up much space. Low self esteem maybe? All I know is if I see someone doing this to one of my cars, they will catch a fist to the skull. Sorry for no photos, I didn't take the time to take pics before work. Just really P.O.'ed

Sorry to hear of this. Some people have no respect for others or even themselves.

Thanks for the concern. Its just one of those things that I dont understand. I dont care how mad/grudge/jealous I am/have been towards anyone. I have not and never would key someones car. It seems juvenile.

Sorry to hear about your keying...
Its never happened to my MINI but it did happen to my Jeep.
Extremely early one morning many cars in my neighborhood were vandalized and later that day the cops had
arrested a few teenage boys (age 12-15) that had gone around the neighborhood damaging all the cars.
By the police report I guess I had the least damage because in some cases they had thrown bricks at cars and smashed in head and tail lights.
What I don't think the little boys understood is how dangerous it can be to be caught by an angry adult male that has just seen his hard earned money wasted.

As for parking at a bar or restaurant.. I always park far from all the action but in plain site with plenty of lighting.

Again VERY sorry to hear about your MINI.

This just makes me sick. It also made me go out and move by Clubby to my back parking lot where I can see it. Although I never get customers anymore, I was worried about it being in the little single parking space I have at my shop near the road. Much better to put it in my backyard lot as it is not so tempting to the cretins that walk up the street.
Isn't it disgusting that we have to have alternate vehicles for shopping? I take the Nissan Titan or Suburban when I have to leave the car to shop. They don't seem as vulnerable as the pretty MINI. Just today I parked at my bank to go in and pick up some deposit slips. As I sat in the MINI to write out a deposit, this huge behemoth truck parked so close to me--and I had left tons of room on the only vulnerable side.
Thankfully I was right there and got out of the space before he could damage the car. Jerks!
I know cars are meant to be used and not idolized, but we pay a lot to have a car we love and enjoy and to have people purposely damage them is unforgivable.

Can I interest you in a security system for future use?

All joking aside I'm sorry to hear about it. That's one of my biggest fears living in Boston.

Ah geez... people suck. I blame the lack of corporal punishment. The story about the boys, 12 to 15... I just know when they got home they had a good talking to. BAH! My Dad would have made me wish my *** wasn't part of my body.

Really sorry about your loss. As painful as it might be I'd be interested in before and after photos of the repair. I've never had anything like that happen to me and it would make me feel better knowing it's something pretty repairable.

Sorry for your problem. Might have just been a drunk.
Not sure what goes through peoples minds, but probably not reasonable thought.

Just to add to the people do stupid things for no reason, about two years ago my wife and I wake up in the middle of the night to loud sound. We go downstairs to find 6 windows broken out and the glass front door smashed.
I thought it could have been someone mad at me but the cops said they had three other houses with similar damage with the same kind of rocks (big dam rocks) not even near our house. These people were traveling around destroying peoples house for no reason.

Sooooo, never under estimate the ability of people to do stupid things.

Sorry to hear, I've had the same thing happen a year ago. 15 minutes in a Costco parking lot (during lunch!) is all it took; and I took great care to park at the far end of the lot.

Likely some never-do-well kids who were probably jealous.... I'd probably be in jail right now if I had caught them in the act.

I really think that's a frequent reason. Let's face it, by virtue of the fact that we're on this forum and drive what we do, virtually all of us are at the very least comfortable financially if not extremely well off. Despite the hard work and efforts, and sacrifices at times in life, each of us has made, some people clearly think they have the right to tear down or take from those that have something they want. I don't understand it, back when I was a MINI wannabe owner, when I got a touch of jealousy seeing other people's nice cars, it just motivated me to work harder or save more until I could afford what I wanted. But I never begrudged others for what they had.

That and the lack of corporal punishment, agree with that logic also.

Dont you just love it when people take their anger or jealousy out on someone elses inanimate property instead of that person that they have the problem with. What did the car do to them?

It seems when we park far out, away from other vehicles, were sometimes the target for morons. They seem to think, that we think were better than them (well, i guess we are) because we have something nice, therefore they have to take it upon themselves to make it look s**@@y like something they own. Tards.

Sorry for your loss.

Makes me sick.
