Edmunds has some details on the JCW model which will be unveiled at the Geneva Autoshow: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=124917
Most of the details were revealed before but the article says the JCW will also be available on the Clubman. Not sure about the wing on the Clubman though.

I do have to say that I think it's sad that the JCW package for the new car has virtually the same output as that of the old car. I would have expected more from a direct injected, turbocharged, variable valve engine. A lot more.
Then again, considering the rash of issues the new BMW/Peugeot mill has been having, I suppose this doesn't shock me. More data points evidencing a trend that this engine is a POS.

Well I just saw this and think it looks great. It is a more complete package than the last GP and I believe it is making more than 218hp, that is probably just what they are rating it at. Also, the original mf article said it wouldn't include any interior/exterior upgrades besides badging and these new articles suggest that they will which is a major plus.
The pricing is better than I expected.
More information on MINI2: http://www.mini2.com/2008/02/24/full...inis-revealed/. Pity UK buyers who will be paying £20,500 for the JCW coupe and £21,700 for the JCW Clubman.
A new feature will be DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), replacing ASC traction
The John Cooper Works goes on sale in August, with U.S. pricing set at $28,550 for the Mini John Cooper Works coupe and $30,800 for the Clubman John Cooper Works.
A new feature will be DTC (Dynamic Traction Control), replacing ASC traction
DTC allows controlled slip on the drive wheels. For example, on a slippery surface, the driver can pick up speed in a controlled manner with the front wheels spinning slightly. When reaching the upper limit, DSC will intervene as usual. But the driver can deactivate the DSC/DTC systems if he wishes by the touch of a button.
Motoringfile has more details on the package -- and according to them edmunds is not correct. Edmunds indicates that the body kits are part of the package you pay for . . . but the BMW press release indicates that "body styling products are available"
well the r56 mcs motor doesn't put out that much more than the r53 in the first place. horsepower isn't always everything

Taking this into account, this may very well be the case; for about the same cost as the original JCW package, looks like you're also getting transmission, clutch, aero upgrades as well.
But then the argument could be made that if that transmission is in need of upgrades for such a moderate power increase...makes me question that component's durability.
Never ending cycle.- Matt
