i was just wondering if you guys adhere to the MINI standards of changing oil every like 12,000 miles? i was thinking if it was ok to pay extra bucks to get it changed every 5,000 like most cars do... if i wanted to ensure quality of my mini to stay superb, i think this is in a way taking care of it. what do you guys propose? thanks.

 

There has been a ton of discussion on this. Do what you makes you feel comfortable. There have been reports of high mileage cars that only changed oil when the OBC said to. Others like me change it more often.

 

If you plan on keep the car for a long time I would change the oil. If you can do it your self parts will only be about $25 if you shop smart for them. Then you have your time. I live working on my Mini. If you can't it will cost you about $120

 

I am in the 5,000 change club. I understand it probably is not necessary but I sleep better with this span and it is very easy to remember.

I'm not sure if it would do it this often if I had to pay rather than doing it myself.

 

Yeah me too, every 5000 miles or every 6 months. It's cheap & easy to do yourself.

 

2000 miles for the first change and every 10k after.
Each change goes to Blackstone for analysis.
