How many MINI owners also own a 911?
I've only been a MINI owner since 1/2/08, although I had initially thought about getting one a few years ago. However, in the last 3 week I've actually noticed that there are quite a few MINI owners here that have a 911, or they have had one in the past. I've chatted with a few of them and it's amazing how many of these 911 owners really love their MINI. So, I just wanted to know if there are more 911 guys/gals are out there.
For me, personally, my R53 is an incredibly fun car to drive and I love the rawness of it. It kind of reminds me of how my '86 Carrera felt (i.e. stiff suspension, bumps on the road, certain type of vibration in the steering wheel, etc.).
Cheers, everyone.

I agree, but the R53 is pretty raw, too. Is your Targa stock? Mine was stock but I had the Bilstein Sport shocks put on it. This car has a lot different feel to it than my 993.

I am on the 911 list and have helped build a few track beasts, but my P-car is a "more-affordable" 944 Turbo. At 2500lb, (still street-legal, but track-ready) I still consider it small and light
The wife still wants a 911 speedster, but will settle for a Boxster

It has the factory sport suspension option and lowered to the euro ride height, but otherwise stock. I've never driven a R53 so I can't really compare those. It's fun to drive like a Mini is but completely different feel. A drivers car for sure.

I've owned several 911's over the years, most recently:
2002 C4S Seal Grey Metallic, picked up new with Euro delivery. Drove all through the Alps in Austria, Italy and Switzerland then back to the Nurburging for some laps before dropping it at the factory for the long boat ride. The C4S was a great car if somewhat heavy and my first 996 model. Easy to drive, comfortable. One day at a Willow Springs track event I got the chance to drive something I had been thinking about for months and within 4 days the C4S was traded in on a....

2004 GT3 White, bought "new" with 1,000 miles on it. This one really introduced me to the world of track driving and I put a lot of safety mods into it including a roll bar and race seats & harnesses. My wife also drove this car at track events. Things started to get pretty serious which led to the next 911 which was a....

2002 GT3 Cup (996 Cup), White with graphics. Factory built race car that has become quite the money pit. Raced my second full season of POC last year with it finishing 2nd in the GTC-3 spec class for 996 Cup cars (first looser). Along the way the car received a new 2005 engine, rebuilt transmission and late last fall a major body work rebuild after a crash (that really blew the budget).

The C4S and the GT3 are gone (sold) so the race car is my track focus now although the Mini is likely to get some light workout by my wife (and me if I can't resist myself).
POC racing season starts in just 3 weeks at the roval infield track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Can't wait!

993, Interesting post, thanks for putting it up. My signature defines my antique P-car. Love that car. Always fun. No stereo and no need. The engine provides all the music I'll ever need.
I really liked the MCS compared to the old 2.7 911S. Though I think the R53 is more raw. Wondering if I should have purchased sport suspension to get that road feel.
You also have an A3. I almost went that route rather than the MINI. How would you compare the A3 vs. the Mini?

Long time no see/speak/write. This is Rich Mitsuda from the POC. Good to see you here, too. Are you racing in the Tribute this year? I might come out to watch. Take care!
Yes, John Gordon and I are doing Tribute in his new (newly built anyway) Boxster Spec car. Should be great fun and so completely different from my Cup car! I'm not even bringing my Cup car out for Tribute weekend as it would just be too tough to go back and forth between the two cars. The BSR car doesn't have a LSD and of course is 230 hp less (only!) But they are a blast to drive.
Come out and watch - should be nice and toasty warm!
That's a great car, jakay11. I've known a few track guys who have had that car and turned in some extremely competitive lap times.

I think the A3 is an awesome little wagon. We had the Audi Q7 but decided to downsize due to the escalating fuel costs. I'm glad we went this route. I have more fun in the MCS, but the A3 is nearly as fun, too. We have the DSG and it's a wonderful piece of engineering.
Yes but he is racing it on a limited program this year - his plan is to just do the Yoko Driver's Cup series with the Cup and POC with the BSR.
Someday I will have a 911, and hopefully I'll still have the MINI. I've been wanting a 356B or C model ever since I was a kid, but now I am jonesing more for an early 911, nothing like the sound of an air cooled six. Saw this sweet example at a car show this summer.

My dad was partial to the 914's of the era but the 911 captured my soul. Still does.
Of course I had to double my age (plus a few years) before I made enough money to buy one!
Rick,
Great garage! I take it you like Red cars, eh?
Here's a snapshot of my garage:

Here are some pics of my 993

And, of course, one of my '05 PWB MCS:
