How many MINI owners also own a 911?
Just a postscript here: got my R56S last week. It is indeed a fantastic machine. A bunch of fun. I won't (safely) push the limits (mine, not the car's) till after break-in. But I can say that for daily driving it is cushy indeed when compared to a 2.7S. For daily driving that is probably great. But for seat of the pants thrills, for me, nothing so far beats the 2.7S. I may have to look into wheels/tires/JCW suspension.

Btw, I love the way the 2.0 - 2.7 liters sound in a 911. My 3.6 993 sounds very tame & quiet compared to your engine.
Anyway, congrats, again.
Own Boxster S and 911
I owned both a 2000 911-996 and a 2002 Boxster S. I still have the Boxster S which I found to be a much more fun and more honest driver than the 911. Plus, the 911 clutch is awful.
I find the MINI to be more fun than both Porsches mostly because the MINI feels like its going faster than it really is while the Porsches are so competent that legal speeds are actually kind of booring. However, when pushed hard, the Porsches stand out. The Boxster S in particular is so perfectly balanced that its scary how well it does when thrown into turns.
But in terms of sheer fun-per-mile, the MINI takes all!

Great first post, Bryan. Also, did you notice the time you posted it?
Is that a 993 Turbo S next to your Boxster S? It looks like one. Anyway, great collection of cars you have. Where are you in California?

Thanks, 993, Well, if I had my druthers, I'd have a 993 as well. Probably an all time favorite next to the 356, 997 and perhaps a 69 or 70 911 carefully preserved.
I would have never picked a 2.7S at first. But the unflared rear panels and the sound of that engine are really addicting. I haven't had a radio in several years since the OEM Blaupunkt is dead. Thinking about a new Alpine HU w/ Ipod interface. But I really love listening to the engine, weird as that sounds. Its like having a a wolf growling in your ear, "Go faster."
