Accident Repair Allstate

Our 2007 Cooper S was involved in an accident Saturday November 17, 2007. The person that caused the accident is insured my ALLSTATE. Allstate finally sent and adjustor to look at our Cooper Monday December 3, 2007. (16 Day after the accident) When we received the estimate for the repair of our beloved Mini, they want to repair the back hatch rather then replace, we talked to the adjustor and stated that we wanted the hatchreplaced as it is a NEW car (4 months old at time of accident) we feel that it is their responsibility to return our Mini to the pristine condition it was in prior to the accident. The cost of a new hatch is only $252.00 more to replace over the cost of the repair. We were told it is industry standard to repair not replace and that if we wanted it replaced we needed to talk to our insurance. Just wondering if anyone else has had an experience with Allstate? Remember you’re in GOOD HANDS WITH ALLSTATE.

Talk to your insurance company. I had problems a few years ago with the insurance company for a 17 year old kid that rear-ended my 6 month old Corvette. My company told me to let them fix it, pay my deductible and they would go after the other company. They took care of everything and about 6 months later I got a check returning the deductible that I paid. They used all new parts.

This is simple... Allstate (my insurance carrier) ALWAYS low ***** their estimates. Your shop needs to fight with Allstate to replace the hatch (and anything else you want). If you are not satisfied with their response, definately contact your insurance agency, express your concerns and let them fight with Allstate. It's what you've paid those premiums for all these years...

yeah i thought your insurance company is suppose to fight this for you

just as an aside, those allstate commercials are a little disgusting. short after those san diego fires, they actually went and shot commercials there w/ that allstate guy. can you imagine, if you were one of those victims, seeing them shooting a commercial there when the fire was not even put out yet. seemed a little opportunistic and disgusting to me

I agree, talk to your insurance company. Have them fix your car & then go after Allstate. Your insurance company should do that for you. If they won't I'd be finding a different company to buy my insurance from.

Good luck.

I currently have Allstate and I've been fortunate to have had good luck with them so far. A good friend of mine is an attorney that fights the insurance companies and he told me Allstate was the worst. He advised me to ditch them for Geico. I haven't done that yet, so I'll be curious to see the outcome of your situation.

As a customer of Allstate, I enjoy having Allstate on my side (isn't that line from...???). I have heard the same that if you are battling with Allstate from the other side, they are a bear to work with.

Re; Allstate Commercials: Boy this one touches a nerve with me though. Their "Accident Forgiveness" commercials sound great but it is not available in the single most populated state in the union, California. EVERY time I see those commercials, I get fried all over again. Why run these commercials in California if we cannot even get it? In this day in age when media can be tailored to specific counties, why are we forced to watch these over and over again?

I am a 23 year client of Allstate and enjoy every discount they offer and unfortunately, no other insurance company can come close to their rates for me.

It sounds like we are in the same boat. I have my house, life and auto insurance through Allstate and their "good" customer rates are pretty good. I also went to high school with my agent, so I know I'm in good hands...

I to am an Allstate customer and my agent also is my neighbor. Recently I put in a claim for damage to the front of my Mini. Because of the extensive mods the estimate took a day longer, I was ok with that. My agent has a copy of every single receipt for all my work. They compared those to the damage and cut me a check that covered all the work and replacement of all the mods. There was some hidden damage, the shop called in and an adjuster came out, looked at the request and the car then approved it and cut a check to the shop and me. Allstate kept me informed every step of the way, called to check on things and fully covered all mods. I've had a few dealings with insurance companies before and this was by far and away the very best experience I've had when dealing with insurance.

Reboopie, you have the right to take your car to whatever garage you choose. Get your insurance company to fight for you.

My beloved Mini was also rear-ended by an Allstate customer in October. I was totally unimpressed by their responsiveness and helpfulness (or lack thereof) in dealing with the claim, although I fortunately did not have to fight over repairs. You should also know, particularly with such a new car, that you can file an additional claim for depreciation, which is basically a cash payment for the reduction in value caused by your car being in an accident. I have a 2006 Cooper S, which had about $3K in damage, and the depreciation was estimated and paid at $1500, in addition to the repairs. So worth checking into!

daffodildeb is right, take your car to the shop you want, they'll handle the rest. I wouldn't get your insurance involved unless the body shop can't get Allstate to co-operate.

My dad's Lexus got hit in a parking lot, the lady's ins co insisted he take it to the local Pontiac dealer for the estimate, which he did. I insisted he take it to the body shop Lexus uses instead, the estimate came to 3 times what the Pontiac guy had written up, and her insurance paid - no problems. You just have to be firm with them. Find a good shop that you trust, they'll do the rest..........
