Got the greatest compliment today.

I was stopped at a red light on a 4 way interestion today. While waiting at the light, a saw a black Mercedes E63 AMG make a right turn. As the Benz was coming towards me, I was trying to make sure it was really a E63 and sure enough it was. Man, what a gorgeous car *drool*.

Anyways, as the Benz was passing by, I noticed the driver of the Benz was checking out my car . And to top it all off, I noticed a young boy in the back seat with his face just glued to the window checking out my car . Man, if he only knew what kinda car his dad has .

kids are the best!

Something about MINI's catch the attention of kids.

I was at a stop sign and a little boy probably 8-10 years old was running a few paces in front of his mother.

When he saw my MINI at the corner he turned to his mother, pointing at my MINI, with his mouth wide open!

I couldn't help but smile.

(A lot of us are still that kid!)

I had a really nice barrage of compliments yesterday. Some of you know I'm an athletic trainer and this time of year I work with football. Yesterday I was working a game, doing pre-game taping and treatment outside the locker room out in the open air, with the MINI parked about 15 feet away (it was an away game, so we use what we got!).

Several of the guys (some BIG guys that if you passed on the street you wouldn't think to say boo to), including one of the coaches, gathered around my car to talk about how cool it was. No "man, that car is gay" or the typical comments you might think you'd hear from a bunch of "macho" guys...*I* know they're all mostly really nice guys but it was funny to see all these huge guys all padded up, standing around drooling over my MINI. I wish I'd taken pictures!

It's great isn't it?

It's amazing how these buggies elicit those kind of reactions. In the year we've had our MINI I've seen or heard compliments from kids, "macho-dudes", bikers, absolutely gorgeous women, cops and owners of vehicles with price tags twice or more what our MINI cost. There are faster cars, more expensive ones, certainly ones more practical, but almost universally a MINI brings on a smile - not only to the people in the car but those who see it.

Our MCSa is my wife's daily driver and she tells me regularly how driving home in Greeley is her way of de-stressing after a long day at work. I doubt you'd get that kind of reaction from a Chevy Malibu . That's why our license plate reads FN2MTR, a.k.a. "fun to motor."

I have posted this elsewhere, but this just happened Friday:
On my way home from work yesterday , I found myself in the line of cars stopped for a license, registration, and sobriety checkpoint. As the Police Officer approached my car I started reaching for my wallet to get out my drivers license. The Officer said "I don't need to see your license, I just wanted to ask if you like your car?" I of course told him I love it. "I'm going to get a MINI myself." he added as he waved me through the checkpoint.
I Love This Car!

I'm an athletic trainer as well (pretty new to the profession though, just about a year in) but when I got the MINI (this past august) ... my co-workers and coaches told me they loved the car. But...I had to figure new ways to haul 10 gal. coolers of water and ice, splint kits, crutch kits, and my kit! But I still love it! I get compliments on the MINI daily because it sits right in front of the building

So true. A few weeks ago I had 6 5-gallon coolers, a 10 gallon ice chest, my table, my pop-up canopy, and my kit all crammed in for a tennis tournament. I was worried as I crammed the last cooler in but it worked out fine. The expressions on peoples' faces as I unloaded were priceless!

Last night as I pulled into the parking lot of the local pizza place, a customer who had been waiting inside stepped outside to check Otto out.First he asked if it was one of the supercharged ones. After I explained that the R56 was a new model, he started walking around, looking it over. He was really interested in the MINI, so I opened it up for him to inspect. He complimented me several times on the appearance. He pointed to the Jetta that he had just bought but said he really liked MINIs and his girlfriend LOVED them. When he was leaving he said he was going to tease his GF that he got to look at one and she didn't.
