NAM in Roundel

Imagine my suprise when reading the latest issue of Rondel when I see NAM mentioned. In an article about the RSR Motorsports efforts in the Koni Challange on page 105 there is mention that the team discusses their efforts on NAM.

On top of that this Rondel has more Mini then any recent issues. Very nice article and spread for Mini's on Top and a new Mini Columnist.

If this is in fact the direction Roundel is going, we have a lot to look forward to. It's no secret, though, that Satch doesn't have much respect for MINI (he doesn't even let writers refer to them as MINIs), but I've heard their access from MINIUSA has been increased, so we might be able to look forward to more features like the ones in the October issue. Now, whether or not that was just an effort by MINIUSA to sell R56s, I don't know.

Since Roundel is technically a club newsletter, they do listen to the readership, so I encourage all of us to write letters (which will probably be published) detailing what we want to read.

Congrats NAM! :D Thanks for pointing it out, I find that I haven't really read the Roundel in ages.

depends on who is writing... several EDs have been very vocal in the encouragement of MINI owners joining BMWCCA as well using the little buggers to terrorize M#s on tracks during DEs.

My Wife's 325xi is getting nervous

(the 951 is my Track Toy, my Dad's Z is the resto-project, the 325xi is the ski car, and George is my slalom (commuter) car)... I enjoy terrorizing GT2s, GT3s, and vettes on the track.... There was this one time I passed a vette on the outside going around, well, that 's for another thread...

Time to fire a letter off to Roundel...

Well get into it! The bottom line is that MINI doesn't have an organized club of the CCA's stature, let alone a publication made by members that can be taylored to what we want. I like MC2 as well, but it's a different animal all together.

The CCA has paved the way for a national level organization that we can one day call our own, we just need to be as vocal and present as possible. The fact that Satch allowed Vince Leo to start a MINI column (he has since turned it over) says that we are at least welcome, but if you look through the letters section (to some the best part of Roundel), you'd be hard-pressed to find much MINI related business in there. It starts with a voice, so let's make it happen.
