Just post a bunch of worthless comments.

Good luck with the ticket. After getting pulled over 3 times on a trip to Colorado I got a V1. Still a good idea to watch it!

my last ticket in the MINI

i was late for a wedding downtown, as i was the videographer. i had to pass a truck to get on the interstate and when i came over the hill...there they were! on bikes and the guy ran into the middle of the street to flag me down. as soon as i saw them, i knew i was busted. i pulled over and was honest. told him i was late for a wedding. he walks across the street to chat with his buddy and came back and said he got me at 77 in a 40, and literally said "i wrote you for 45. go to court and get it dismissed, but that's pretty fast." i thanked him and said i really appreciated it. got on the freeway and was off to the wedding.

very lucky. whew!
i am now looking into a V1 soon.

The police always give that nice guy chat about go to court and be nice. Go to court and challenge the ticket. The traffic court is a money machine and they do not want you to challenge your violation - it is much cheaper for them. Stand up and take action.

I got a ticket a couple of months ago (first in many years--red MINI); court date is April 30. This is in a small town north of Houston. I'm going to change it to an appearance before the judge instead of jury trial, but I have until court date to do it. Hoping it will fade out of the cop's memory in the meantime.

About those ticket lawyers. The last time I got pulled over I started getting those letters. All were addressed to last name KINH. I looked at the original ticket, and sure enough--misspelled name! How you can goof up KING, I don't know, but it took all of 5 minutes to have it dismissed--just had to show my license and BAM--I was out of there!

Fight every ticket! Anyone who thinks speed limits and speeding tickets are purely about safety is, frankly, naive. It's a game, and you have to play to win.

The National Motorists Association is a great resource, here's a link to available resources to fight speeding tickets:

Hopefully this fullfils the HWY 3 police quota for tickets given to MINI drivers. I live in Clear Lake and "always ( ) " obey the speed limit. There are so many places for police to hide it isn't worth it to speed on HWY 3. That's what I-45 is for!

My speedo runs a tad higher than actual, according to my TomTom GPS unit.

i've been pulled over twice in houston for speeding, i just talked my way out of them, not hard to do... however i did get my first seeding ticket... IN CANADA! The mountee would not let me go even after i showed him my speedometer just showed mph, i never mentioned i had kmph on the tach... then he walked off to his car and another mountee walked up and asked what happened and i still had my sob tears and he told me that as long as i don't plan on driving back into sk, canada in the next 5 years, i don't have to pay for it! on the down side... my license is revoked in sk... lol

I remember I had a clean drivers record, I used to go to DMV and buy my driving record just to keep and on my 3rd day of MINI ownership BAM a misdemeanor speeding ticket for 117mph on a 55. The CHP was oncoming, I kinda saw what seemed to be a black and whith but did not slow down enough. I seen his lights turn on and thought should I stay or should I go? I pulled over right near the James Dean Memorial tree (on the 46) lit a ciggarette and waited for the CHP. $760 ticket $650 attoney fees but kept my license, no misdemeanor, only 1 point (over 100mph automatic 2 points)
almost two years ago and still never showed up on record??

sounds like the time i got pulled over and arrested for felony evading. I pulled over it wasn't evading. 1500$, sold car, 9months through the legal system, good friend how is a lawyer, and new found (dis)respect for the law is all that came out of that experience. The worst part it was the same stretch of hwy 3 I am never going to learn my lesson am i???

PS HMMS people all this stuff happens about 1/2 a mile from sonic that you guys meet up from time to time
