NAM Members,
I am trying to find checkered mirror caps. The unique thing about this request is I am looking for red and black checkered mirror caps. I own a 2004 Cooper S with a black roof. I think they would look better than the black and white ones.

I know I could have them made special by a talented car painter. If this is my only option, does anyone know where I can get some sort of template so they mimic the black and white ones.

If you have black caps, you could always "Checker" them using blocks of red vinyl Or of course, red caps checkered with black vinyl

 

If you're in a position to spend a few dollars, buy a pair of black caps, and then take them to a reputable auto body/custom car/bike paint shop and have them shoot the red checkerboard pattern on the blackcaps.

After the red goes on, they'd shoot 'em with clear, and you'd never know they didn't come that way..

 

Or, buy the black and white checkered ones and have all the white checks painted red.

 

Or buy the Union Jack ones, paint them black and then add red squares.

Thanks for all the input. Sounds like no vendor is producing checkered caps that match pain schemes. I think I will go with either Hogtied or rattmobbins ideas. Thanks So much.

 

I like your way of thinking... YOU-nique is always good when you're talking MINIs !!

HOWEVER... also consider this: if you have white pinstripes on your bonnet stripes, the black and white checkered mirror caps really make that white pop out on the bonnet.

Just sayin'.

 

I think the red and black would really stand out and I doubt you'll see very many like that. But than you may start a trend after every one sees how cool they look. Good luck and be sure to post pics when your done.

 

The normal checkered caps look reallllly nice on chili red MINIs. You might want to try them first before trying to go custom
