Buying a preowned MINI?
I have a friend of a friend whose looking into getting a used mini cooper. Are there certain things she should lookout for in each model year?
I know that the R53 models worked out some kinks that the R50s had.
What were the problems in the R50, R53s that she should look out for?
Here's the question:
The nearest mini dealership is around 3 hours away from her.

She doesn't know anything about cars, and I don't know anything about Minis. Are there any specific things she should be looking for, or anything to watch out for with these cars?
How are they on maintenance? She barely knows how to check her oil. Would you have any qualms about taking your car to a local shop to get worked on?
