2007 Formula 1 Discussion Thread
If we're talking whom we'd like to see at McLaren: Michael Schumacher. Let's see just how good Lewis is, and give MSchu a chance to stick it to Ferrari at the same time!
Or Mark Webber - a good guy who has never been in the right car at the right time.
Or Paul Tracy - F1 could use a short-tempered maniac of a driver.
Or Boris Said - Seems like he has talent to drive anything, plus he has great hair.

Lewis Hamilton could face punishment after using two sets of wet-weather tyres during Friday's free practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paolo.
Drivers are only allowed to use one set of tyres during a session and McLaren have admitted to making the mistake.
The stewards are to discuss the situation after the second practice session finishes at 1830BST.
The FIA have no set punishment for the offence, so it remains to be seen what decision will be taken.
Honda's Jenson Button and Super Aguri's Takuma Sato also face a penalty for the same infringement.
Hamilton leads his team-mate and double world champion Fernando Alonso by four points with Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen a further three behind.

And if you saw the second practice session today on Speed tv when Hamilton got in Kimi's way during the final minutes.......An excerpt from Kimi's post session comments: "Then, when conditions improved, we came up against a bit of traffic." A slight understatement.

If any top driver deserves to be called F1 World Champion, it's KIMI!!!!
So close so many times, so many reliability problems or other things out of his control.
Formula One is frustrating to follow race to race sometimes but over a season nothing matches the drama.
You could not predict that this season would have ended like this. Three (almost 4) guys fighting for the championship and the guy in third place wins it...In a Ferrari no less
What a crazy season.
Too bad for Lewis
He was great all year long. Alonso is douchebag.
I can't wait until next season
In the meantime I will enjoy the WRC coverage I have downloaded to get over the withdrawal.

Oh, my. It's not over...
Raikkonen Wins Formula 1 Title as Hamilton Slumps
Oct. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen took the Formula One championship by one point after winning the season- ending Brazilian Grand Prix today to overhaul McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso in the standings. Race officials later opened a fuel probe that might affect the result.
The 28-year-old Finn overturned a seven-point deficit to win his first title. Hamilton started badly, had gearbox problems and finished seventh in the race, while Spain's Alonso was third. The McLaren pair finished joint runners-up in the championship.
Race officials are investigating fuel samples in the cars of Nico Rosberg, Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld -- who finished fourth, fifth and sixth -- in a move that might give Hamilton the title if they are disqualified, Agence France-Presse reported, without saying where it got the information.

From Speed a few minutes ago. . .
"After deliberation, the stewards opted not to penalize Williams and BMW Sauber.
The BMW Sauber and Williams teams will not be penalized despite discrepancies in their fuel sample temperatures during the Brazilian Grand Prix, the race stewards said. The results of the Brazilian Grand Prix have been officially confirmed, and Kimi Raikkonen’s World Championship victory is now official.
Fuel samples taken from both cars of both teams during their pit stops in Sunday's race showed temperature degrees outside the permitted variation. Article 6.5.5 of the Formula 1 technical regulations states: "No fuel on board the car may be more than 10 degrees centigrade below ambient temperature."
FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer said all fuel samples from the four cars showed temperature of 12 to 14 degrees centigrate lower than the ambient temperature at the time. However, after deliberations at Interlagos, the race stewards decided not to penalize the teams."

Let's hope the results stand...

I said to my wife before the race ended, that Fred was just going to be happy Lewie The Spoiled Brat wasn't on the podium. I would almost bet that one of the first things Fred said to Kimi was something to the effect, "If it couldn't be me, then I'm glad it was you."
Congrats Kimi. I dispise Ferrari, but Kimi earned the championship.

Because they've had such great luck in the courts this year: McLaren appeal puts title result in doubt.

I must say that I don't quite get your feelings toward Ferrari as a Mini Cooper owner, but I can't help but think that Fernando must've found some silver lining in the day's events.
I'm glad we have something to agree on

My feelings towards Ferrari go way back, to when Enzo woud screw his drivers on a fairly regular basis.
Same feelings I developed about Frank Williams, and am beginning to about Ron Dennis..

Enzo Ferrari ws definately a pre-world economy, Draconian, dinosaur. Although and engineer, his talent lay in placing the right poeple at odds with one another. Human nature can be fueled in may ways and Enzo chose to tap into the deeper, darker primitive side of his team.
Not exactly warm and fuzzy, but effective. I love the cars, but I would not put up with that environment...unless I were earning 65 million...thenI could could deal with some BS
