Vir

are there any other MINI's that will be at the porsche driving school this weekend at VIR? i seem to be the only MINI at a lot of DE's these days. there is a new track being built around charlotte. maybe that will up the MINI presence. hope to see some MINI people at some of these things.

I need to do a better job keeping up with the VIR and other track events.
I already signed up for an autocross in Fort Mill, SC.
Have fun and thanks for posting that link.
I hope it goes according to schedule.

There were 4 MINI's at a NASA/Mid-Atlantic event in February, 18-20, on the Full Course at VIR. Close to 10 MINIs will be at Mid-Ohio this weekend with NASA/Ohio-Indiana. Had 2 MINIs at Lime Rock on Monday, 7 of us were at Lime Rock on Tuesday.

Have fun!

Yikes! I've seen a couple of bad ones my couple of times there. Did you have bad weather? At least 3 of us will be at the Mazda Drivers' event on the Grand East Course June 18-19.

that grand course was made for a MINI. i did it once last year and twice this year. if you want i'll send you a video.

the wrecks at this event were bad. it was a monday tuesday event and the weather was great. the first day there was a porsche GT3 RS that lost it in turn ten and hit the inside wall. it tried to pull away the the back wheel that hit the wall folded in. that was all she wrote. the second day right in front of me a brand new porsche carrera GT lifted in turn ten and spun of the track and into the inside tire wall. i was pushing him.......... he was not a good driver. he said he was going into that turn fast than he ever had and tried to slow down. now remember i was 12 feet off his bumper. i think he could have gone 40 mph faster. the next session in turn 10 a mustang cobra lifted and went off the track. when he hit the tire wall he rolled. it was ugly. i'll post pics later. every panel had damage.

I'd love to see some footage of the Grand East course, I've only seen a couple so far. I'm really looking forward to the event.

Those Porsches can be tough to manage, seems they frequently get into trouble. I've seen a few people get into trouble with the 350Z's as well. We are lucky, our MINIs are so forgiving. Of course anyone can get into trouble with any car, I've seen and heard of people crashing and even rolling MINIs at the track, it just seems that certain cars it happens with more frequency.

I was kind of a wuss in turn 10, though the instructor that rode with me several times over the weekend felt I was going plenty fast. Spins and such happen a lot in that turn!
