SCMM Track days 13th and 14th of August

Just thought I would throw out a heads up for anyone who is interested in attending this event. It is open to all Mini's, you do not have to be a member of any club, group or organazation to attend. Below is the event in a nutshell, I copied and pasted the original message from another thread.

It would be nice to fill the track with Minis, so sign up and have some fun in August with a bunch of other mini owners!

Ok folks, we are now ready to begin accepting reservations for our annual weekend at the track. These events are exceptional well organized by Rich and the RacerFactory team, they provide a very safe environment to explore the limits of your car and your driving. RacerFactory provides very high quality instruction that all particpants can use as much, or as little of as they choose, these weekends are essentially a performance driving school where you provide your own car. At only $275 for two days this is great deal for what for many is one of the best experiences of your life.

These events are fantastic if you've always wanted to blast around in your car at speeds that would have you spending time getting intimate with your roommate courtest of the State government. They are even better if you've always wanted to do this, but would also like to come away a far better driver than you went in to the weekend. A weekend with high quality instruction at the track will change the way you approach your daily drive, providing you with far better skills at controlling your car than you believed possible.

This event will be held on August 13th and 14th and is for anyone from total beginners to the Michael Schumachers amongst us (Rory, Paul). We will divide the participants up into different run groups at different skill levels, so beginners will not be on the track with advanced, high speed drivers and vice-versa. All you need to have to attend is a car (preferably a Mini) and an approved helmet (I'll provide details on where to get the stuff you might need later on). NOTE: the events are not races!! There is no wheel-to-wheel racing, and anyone driving dangerously will be promptly removed from a session, and possibly even from the event (this is at Rich's discretion).

This event will be held at the Streets of Willow Springs (SOWS) track in Rosamond, CA. This is about 10 miles north of Lancaster on the 14, aobut an hour and a half away from LAX (with no traffic). This is a great track to learn on (as is its bigger sister the Willow Springs International Raceway). SOWS is a great short track, and a local favorite. This track provides a good start for novices, yet gives advanced drivers a challenge as well. We'll be running the full track with the bowl. This is a 1.8 mile road course with 14 turns and three elevation changes, and plenty of run-off space for a safe track going experience.

This is, of course, an SCMM event with all the associated social elements, so we will be suire to have sufficient hotel space in Lancaster reserved and will arrange group dinners on Firday and Saturday nights.

I had my first track experience in last year's SCMM weekend at the track and couldn't get the grin off my face for 3 or 4 weeks.

We would like to try to fill this event up early with Minis and keep it Mini only, so please sign up (pm me, or post here) as soon as you can, and send your check for $275 to:

Hope to see you all out there in August.
