Also Damon gave Jordan its first victory ever at Spa in 1998. Great moment horrific wreck at the start though (happened right in front of me, wheels and other large and heavy objects flying past at +100 mph). Perhaps you meant the prior year 1997, when Damon Hill left Williams for Arrows (a team that NEVER scored a victory, although Damon had one helluva run to 2nd for them in hmmm, where was it Austria or Hungary I think.)
Toyota has shown it's '05 car. I hope that Ralphie boy likes finishing at the bottom end of the points. IMHO his success at Williams was due to the car, as he lacks his brother's skills!
Jordan has its Toyota power plants but rumor has it that the team will be sold before the first race.

New McLaren was launched today...Raikkonen is already testing.
What's with Williams?
We are only about six weeks away from the start of the '05 season, and Williams still hasn't officially named their second driver??!! WTF? Are these people in the midst of a nervous breakdown? Frank, Sam, Mario, Get your collective ***** in gear. We are BMW MINI owners and we want to see what BMW is capable of acheiving. Don't tell us this is a "rebuilding" year, we just saw JPM win the last GP of '04. You have had over a year to get new drivers as both RS and JPM made it clear that they would be moving on to greener fields a long time ago. You've had ample time to find and train those new pilots to prepare for this upcoming moment. Webber will be a great asset, but you've got to pair him with a race winner, not a sponser's pet or Formula Ford nubie. For crying out loud, get someone soon.

Yippee
Formula one is awesome baby
Can't wait for another great year.
Williams should pick Nick Heidfeld because I say so
I don't really care, but they should just pick someone already.
Oh yeah...Schumacher rules
Schumacher can repeat what he did last year too
I really just want to see JPM vs KR at McLaren...I want to see who breaks down first
Ferrari is just bulletproof with its current crew.
The new rules are strange to me especially the tyre rule. Why do they always want to reduce mechanical grip? Get rid of the weird winglets sprouting everywhere and give them real slicks.

So Nick Heidfeld it is...Nick Heidfeld has won his battle with Antonio Pizzonia to become Mark Webber's BMW Williams team-mate in 2005. He was announced as the outfit's second driver instead of the Brazilian at the launch of the new WilliamsF1-BMW FW27 challenger at Valencia on Monday.
Heidfeld finally has a chance with a top team...that is if Williams can produce a car that can maintain consideration as a top team...let's hope so.

33 days til Melbourne!

Finally!
Heidfeld has the experience, if not the victories to be a cool-headed wingman for Webber. IMO he was a better choice than "jungle boy". Now, get down and kick some F1 **** boys. (Everybody's except my beloved Schumi's that is.)
I picked the right guy Heidfeld after all. He kinda got screwed by McLaren when they chose Kimi Raikonen without considering him, but then again I think we all would have chose KR knowing what we know now. Oh well, just another guy Webber is going to destroy. Seems like 2 thru 5 in the Constructors championship is wide open again.
Red Bull Racing will enter the circuit this year with the RB1 with Coulthard and Klien the drivers.

Jordan / Midland insane?
Narian Karthikeyan and Tiago Monteiro will pilot the 2005 Jordan/Midland backmarkers this year. WTF? I know Jordan has a reputation for discovering young talent but is this Eddie's doing or Alex Shnaider's? Oh well, it's only Rupels.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised with Renault placing in the top 3 in most of the races. The new R25 has it right, with an even better launch system than 2004. Alsonso and Fisichella both know how to drive well- and I wouldn't count either of them out of contending for the top spot a few times this year. If they get out in front early, IMHO, they will be hard to beat.

Rule loophole over race finishing or how to gain a fresh engine by parking the car...
Finishing a race outside of the points could be a thing of the past for many runners. With the latest raft if regulations determining that an engine must last for two races drivers could park healthy cars on the final lap of the race in order to gain a fresh engine for the next race the March edition of F1 Racing magazine has highlighted.
The 2005 FIA rules state that ‘Any driver who failed to finish the race at the first of the two events may start the second with a different engine without incurring a penalty.’
Naturally this rule ‘anomaly’ will play nicely into the hand of those drivers who have had a poor first race or those who have simply not had the performance to break into a points scoring position. By simply pulling to a halt on the final lap and not finishing the race the race driver is entitled to a fresh V10 for the following event.
The definition of finishing race in this instance is taking the chequered flag, not completing a majority of the race distance or even completing 90 percent in order to be classified as a race finisher.
FIA Race Director and Safety Delegate Charlie Whiting told F1 Racing Magazine that he believes teams will not take advantage of this loophole in the rules and that a ten position penalty for a car that failed to last the distance would be too harsh. It should also be noted that a ten position penalty still applies to those who have an engine change during practice or qualification.

Man arrested for driving imaginary car A street entertainer has been arrested for pretending to be a Formula 1 car.
David Honan,32, made members of the public laugh by running around wearing a red Ferrari uniform and holding a steering wheel.
But he was arrested in York for causing an obstruction under the Highways Act reports The Sun.
After being searched and held for over two hours he accepted an official caution rather than facing a possible £1,000 fine in court.
David said: "It's absolutely ridiculous. I now have a criminal record over something absurd. What's the world coming too if you can get arrested in a shopping precinct for pretending to be a car?"
Police said he was arrested because it was feared he might cause an accident.
A spokesman said: "He had run out into the road in front of traffic."

At the moment, only one F2005 chassis is ready, which will begin testing on track next week with Luca Badoer. “The second will probably be ready after Malaysia, because at the moment it is still being used for the crash test,” said Brawn. “When we have two chassis, we will be able to do more testing. Of course, we want to race the new car as soon as possible and to do that we need to gather a lot of data. Badoer will do the first test, as the race drivers will be busy with the Australian Grand Prix."
So when will the F2005 make its race debut? “Probably Barcelona,” replied Brawn. “But we will have to see how testing goes. Maybe it might be possible to introduce it in Bahrain. It also depends how the F2004 M goes in the races. If it is competitive, then we can get on with things more calmly.”
Something tells me there is no hurry, but that will become more apparent a week from now, eh?
