Does anyone have a tutorial video on how to remove the blower motor housing heater core assembly On an R53? I have the whole dash out, and have already disconnected the heater core. I have already removed the a/c compressor, but still have the lines going into the firewall, I think I need to disconnect the lines from the engine bay in order to be able to remove the blower motor housing heater core assembly, just a guess though. I was hoping to be able to remove the remaining lines once the engine swap takes place next month, but it doesn’t seem I can get the wiring done unless I can remove the blower motor housing heater core assembly
Before anyone asks my what I’m doing, I have gutted my R53 for the track and have removed all the unneeded wiring, minus the remaining wiring behind the assembly.
As you thought you need to disconnect the lines at the firewall. They connect to lines in the HVAC unit there. Removing the 3 nuts for
the rubber grommet makes it easier to pull the HVAC unit loose. There is one wiring connection on the passenger side that connects
to the HVAC unit (if you missed it).
All done. Removed a/c evaporator and going to reinstall assembly. Was thinking of just a simple piece of sheet metal to cover the hole from the a/c line. What have others done to cover the hole?
