I want to start a new mcs project for a daily driver, solo racing, etc.
What base car would you start with?
Would you get any of the dealer options (dsc, etc.) are just get it stripped for less weight?

Thanks for your input

I guess that depends on what your exact goals for the car are... if racing is an occasional thing just buy the car how you want it... if you want to be serious about autocross then the fewer options the better in general.... ie less weight. Not many MINI owners are "hard core" racers... only us nutty cone heads worry about fractions of a second gained by having a slightly lighter car...

Just get a Mini that is comfortable for you. I would recommend no sunroof, no Works add on, and get the V-spoke wheels if they are still available. The car is very competitive as it is. The driver is what usually needs the work.

I have a totally base model MCS, and am happy as a squirrel contemplating a hog-tied Planters Mr. Peanut

Working on the lightest platform possible I am optioning it out with handling goodies and the tweaks and cosmetics I like, with no exising fluff items to remove or replace. I consider it a blank canvas to produce a wonderful artwork upon...

A major factor would also be what class are you planning on running in. Stock class restricts the amount of changes you can make to the car. Other classes are much more lenient about changes. Remember, any boost changes usually put you in a street mod class that can be very difficult to be competitive in. If you are just starting out, I recommend the stock classes. It allows you a lower budget and I think it is also easier to hone your driving skills. I run in stock mostly because I cannot afford the goodies needed to be competitive in the other classes.

does a JCW MCS count in any stock classes? Or does that make a street mod?
