I was planning on racing in GS street tire this coming season on Falken tires. However, tonight I noticed that Hankook has a 215/40/16 DOT tire. If I decide to just run in GS, how would the 215 Hankook compare to the 205 Kumho DOT tires. Hoosiers are out, too much dough. Any info would be great.

 

Which Hankook are you talking about? The 211 is a R coumpound tire but there is a rumored 212 coming out that us Street Touring types may be interested in. If the Hankook you are interested in is not one of these then one of the other brands is a better choice.

The new V710 Kumho's are WIDE. Someone on the Miata Forum got some and the 205/50/15's he got were a little wider than the 225/45/15 v700's he also had, both are the same diameter. Kumho says they will make a 215/40/16 but it's 10th on their top ten priority list for 2004 so I wouldn't expect it before September and most likely not till Oct. or even early 05.

Where can you buy the Hankook Z 211 R in a 215/40/16? I can't find a vendor on the internet that has this tire size yet.

Sorry, I was originally asking about the Hankook Z 211 215/40/16 racing tire and the Kumho ECSTA V700 205/45/16. Does anybody have any idea how these two tires would compare? I am also interested in the price of the Hankook.
Minifinn, the Hankook site has listings of the nearest outlets carrying Hankook tires.

 

How is the quality of this tire in general. I have never heard of them and am thinking about getting the HRII H405's
