Since wheel size is unlimited and street tires (140 wear rating) manditory. I was thinking of running 15"x6.5"-7" wheels with 205/50/15 Azenis RS or BFG KD's on my MCS. What are the other options? Is smaller/lighter better than bigger/heavier & wider on the MCS?

Last season in STX we ran 205/15/50 Falken Azenis ($65 ea) on the NZO 15x6.5 wheels -- we also ran 15x7 Kosei K1s w/225/50/15 BFG TA-KDs ($163 ea)

The falkens were the more consistent tire. We switched back and forth most of the season, but finally settled on the azenis. The Falkens with the stiffer sidewalls had very little squirm, were very predictable, and were consistent until they heatsoaked -- which happened quickly in July w/ a two driver car and 95 deg F air temps.. The TA-KDs gripped well, stuck better when hot, but were squishier and and bounced or - "played to the spring rates" too much -- maybe due to the higher sidewall.

At national SCCA Solo 2 events that I attended (2 Pro Solos, 1 National Tour, and both finals) MOST Cooper S's running STX ran 15" wheels and Falkens. Mark of NAM fame ran Kumho MX's on his S.

I currently run in GS and am now using Kumho's V700's, BUT... I started off on Falken Azenis. They are definately a good tire. I'v also had the chance to test out as set of Kumho's MX tires, which were VERY nice. If the Kumho truck comes to your town with it's 3 Cooper CVTs, definately try out the MX tire. I will tell you, I did't have the pressures up high enough and I spun my MCS with them on, but they do heat up fairly quick so I only spun once.

Most of the people in my region that run in STS/STX use Falken Azenis on 15" wheels, no matter what they are driving.
