Which CarboTech Pads?
I was debating which CarboTech compound to run for track days, between a XP10 Front/XP8 Rear or a XP12 Front/XP 10 Rear. Right now I got the Hawk HP Plus on R53 JCW brakes, which is an Auto-X and supposedly for HPDEs but I get near complete failure occasionally due to fade. What pads do you do guys run? Any suggestions?
BTW: Just got the Pegasus catalog and ran across a new brake fluid, the ProSpeed Motorsport RS683 Xtreme Performance Brake Fluid anyone heard of it? It has a 683 Dry Boiling Point and 439 Wet Boiling Point.

You might find some useful info in there. I don't run CarboTech pads so I can't help you..

Yeah thanks I did read that, LOL, actually that thread is what started my own debate between the 12 and 10 pads for the fronts. I was leaning toward the XP10 fronts and XP8 rears cause I figure I could also run as street pad. I am very lazy to switch pads out, even changing wheels bothers me. I know I would probably leave the XP12 pads on after a track day until the proverbial "next weekend" But I am questioning if the XP10s will suffice.

I have been running XP 12 (F) and XP 10 (R) on the stock r56 MCS rotors and calipers but I have the JCW brake ducts for cooling. The choice of XP10 and XP12 on the front depends on the temperature of your rotors and pads. I run about 550 degrees F so I could use either XP12 or XP10.
You should test your brake rotor temp on the track and that would indicate which pad you should be using. If you do not get the XP 12 pads up to operating temps go down to XP 10s. If the XP 10s are too hot, go up to XP12s.

Decisions
So how that work out for you?
Any fade?
Stock or JCW brakes?
Air ducts?
Guess if I get the XP10/8 combo and if need be I can change fronts to XP12 and keep the 8s in the back. Then keep the 10s for street? (GP now more a weekend car)

Works great! JCW brakes with no brake ducts yet. Now I do have a complete rotor/pad set for the track and a different rotor/pad set for the street. Gave up on compromising, this way I'm good to go at the track or street!

howsoon, it also depends on your tires...
If you're running high performance street, XP10/XP8.
If you're running R-comps, XP12 on fronts, XP10's or XP8's on rears.
I'm running XP12's on the fronts this year, I'll start XP10's on the rears from last year--still have a fair amount of pad on them, and also try XP8's. I have a feeling XP12/XP8 is probably the best combo (for me anyway)...

last Friday @ Thunderhill (4/23)
Hey Howsoon...just another datapoint...
I'm running an R53 with the JCW brake kit up front with Kuhmo XS 215/45-17's...and a few other mods (with RMW tune) getting me up to 213HP/192tq
Last Friday 4/23 was 77 degrees at Thunderhill all day...I was running the XP10's in front and the XP8's in the rear.
the XP10's did fade on me a couple of times coming into turn 14 (from about 95mph to 60-ish? mph)....so I can't say I'm completely happy with them. I need to get the XP12's for the front to see if I'll be sticking with carbotech. Also, they squeal like hell on the streets if not heating up right, so my vote is "no" for street driving (at least for me). FWIW I don't think the rears really matter, those look fine.
btw I have pix of the XP10's and the rear XP8's after my one track day if you're interested...
hope this helps
