I just ordered a Performance Box GPS Data Acquistion Device

I am at home right now waiting on the plumber - I have slow hot water leak under the slab!

I had been looking at getting a GPS Data Acquistion device for the track for some time.

I have the REV for my iphone but I really wanted live lap times and a little more feedback tools. Plus the GPS on iphone doesn't work too well.

I had been looking at Traqmate and know a few people that have them and they are no doubt great. However Traqmate was a little more money that I wanted to send.

On another post on NAM https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...n-devices.html
gnatster mentioned the Performance Box http://store.vboxusa.com/servlet/Det...2&sfs=2ea39394 and I looked into it.
I should have it here before this weekend where I look forward to using it on the track for the first time!

Just FYI, no tracks that I know of will allow you to run a high speed event like a DE with anything suction cupped to a window. You'll need a solid mount...

If you can, post up some pics of the laps you run with it, I'd love to see how it organizes the data and such.

I wonder how well - or even if it's possible, to suction cup mount it to the big Speedo in the center dash. Might still not be proper but certainly less conspicuous than on the windshield.
The GPS might not get a clear signal though….they make an external antenna option.

There are alot of videos on youtube that people have made of track days with Performance Box mounted to the windshield. With 3 suction cups it looks pretty well planted.

Well I found a great way to securely mount the Performance box on the Mini. Mounted, it does not limit the view but puts it at a great position for viewing. In fact after I mounted it and drove around with it on Speed indication mode, it was much eaiser to view my speed on it than on the regular digital speed indicator- almost like a heads-up display.

Feeding zip ties through defrost vent

Before cutting excess zip tie

Compared to suction cup mount

Tomorrow I am going to the track and will get a chance to really put it to the test.
BTW - Confirmed the cars speedo indicates about 3 MPH faster that what you're really going.
