There have been times times in F1 history, when the relationship breaks down between driver and team, and suddenly a driver is mysteriously not doing well.

Alonso at McLaren (my opinion)
Speed at TR
Mansell at Ferrari

...just to name two off the top of my head without checking my books.

Mansell at Ferrari...
...Alan Proust at Ferrari in 1991...Phil Hill at Ferrari in 1962...Eddie Irvine at Ferrari in 1999...hmm, basically anytime anyone ever crosses the powers that be at Ferrari....Even Pete Aarons had problems with Ferrari in the 1966 movie Grand Prix.

Sorry, went back to page one and didn't see anything about how Dennis gave a Hamilton a strategic advantage over Alonso.

Like I asked, please elaborate.

I know this is better suited for the Single's thread but it works here, too. Look what Seabass gets to go home to (he beats the Schu, IMO):

Mrs Bourdais is cute, but I'm sure Mrs Schumacher looked better a bunch of kids and 10-20 years ago too.

Alonso did a fantastic job but he has to be light on fuel.

Spoiler Alert!

Kimi gets the hat trick - pole, fastest lap and the race win - well done Kimi!

Alonso ran well till he blew up. Good performance from Renault, they're going better every race....

McLaren seems to have peaked last year, they're still capable of points in every race, but I think Ferrari have the edge on the championship - yet again! Scary moment for Heikki when he lost a front tire, but it seems he's Ok, just bumps and bruises.

Good race!

It's early, but it looks like Kimi may get his 2nd WDC this year.

Renault looks incredible compared to the beginning of the season. Fred wasn't as light on fuel as every one speculated, as he pitted just three laps before Massa. Renault really has made some staggering progress. I noticed that the SPEED gang was saying some of the things I had been saying for a bit: McLaren may missing Fred's development talents.

I'm so glad Heikki is alight. That was a very nasty crash.

Too bad Bob could only manage 4th, I'd love to see him on the podium more, and even win a couple races.

Too bad Fred's motor went boomski before he was done. I would love to see a podium for him. Better yet, in his home country.

You all must have been watching a different race. I just saw an unchallenged Ferrari 1-2, with a scary Renault crash in the middle of it. Oh, and Honda seems to be using the Trix rabbit as aerodynamic inspiration!

The NASCAR channel had itself set up for a nice race to the finish, but then half the field wrecked and denied Montoya a chance for a first oval win.

Wow! You really were watching a different race! Ours had a scary McLaren crash.

The race is not always at the front!

Did they ever figure out why Reuben's front wing broke in the pits?

Renault, McLaren...they all look the same to me! My bad.

I'm just jaded by F1. I expect the races to be boring so I don't notice if they aren't boring unless something really notable happens.

I was happy when Kimi beat Alonso for pole, and when Alonso's car blew up. I don't have anyone really to root for these days (well, no one likely to win), so I root against Alonso instead!

Sorry, can't do it. I used to pull for Kimi but now that he drives for the great, red cheating monster I can't do it anymore.

I read somewhere that since Mosley may be on his way out there are some team principals, etc, thinking they might be able to get the engine freeze rule thrown out soon. On the other hand, given the concern expressed by technical directors about all the new development required to comply with the other '09 rule changes, throwing full engine development in the mix might just be enough to make some of their giant brains explode.

Did I hear this right? I was listening to an interview with Hamlton post Spain and I thought he said he knew he could get around Alonso once he had passed Kubica. If so, I can't believe people aren't jumping all over that as continued fall-out from next year.

For whom would you rather pull? Perhaps the cheaters at McLaren? Or maybe the cheating and blackmailing Alonso?

The front of the grid is nothing but cheaters!

BMW is second in the standings and does not cheat. Root for them.

Yeah, Alonso has done some underhanded things but need I remind you of Flexi-wing? And I still pull for Kovalainen and Hamilton even though they don't seem to have it this year.

I'm happy - good race. Kimi's cool, Filipe got me some fantasy points, good to see Lewis on the podium again (more points for me). Scared for Heikki for a while, but he's ok (and bf didn't get his points), love to see Alonso blow up (again, no points for bf). Disappointed in Heidfeld's performance lately, same with Rosberg.
But it was a good race to watch - hope it wasn't Super Aguri's last.

I'm concerned about the Super Best Friends. I know there's a clause that states a minimum number of cars must be in the race. If that number isn't available, they will have teams field a third car.

Would ALL teams have that 3rd car option? It would play hob with the WCC.

I was looking through my 1996 Autocourse (Damon Hill WDC), and of all the teams listed in there, only four are still in existence today with the same name. Most are gone completely.
