I asked this question in the tire section and got no takers with info. The June issue of Grassroots Motorsports showed an announcement about a new R compound DOT tire from Hankook? Does anyone have any info about this tire? Price? Handling? How does it compare to Kumho or Hoosier tires? They list a 215/40/16 that looks very attractive for my MCS. I liked the Kumhos I used to run on my old 914 but they don't have the size I want. Hoosiers are said to handle great but wear is a factor.
Anybody have any info?

 

The best info I know of is the GRM article you already have ... I suspect the Hankook tire will be about as good as the Kuhmo... probably a touch slower (my guess) but still much much better than street rubber not sure on price but they should be relatively cheap ... on par with Kuhmo. The size seems like a nice fit too... although my 205/45/16 Kuhmos do just fine.... I am giving up a bit of rubber to the wider Hoosiers and now Hankook offerings.... give them a try and let me know what you think

 

The Hankook is not supposed to be available until next year. I think they only make one size right now, the size for the Pro Miata. If the price is and size are right I will give them a try, at least for local events.
