What are the best wheels for racing/autoX? I was told to stick with a stock 17" because tire makers are starting to shy away from 16" tires. I've been looking at Kosei K1 TS wheels which are between 14-15lbs and affordable. Other options are Team Dynamics Pro Race and 5Zigen. Please help!

what brakes do you have? if you're running stock nonJCW a 15" should fit and has the best prices for competitive tires. nothing wrong with 17"s nor 16"s... 15"s just yield the most room for getting wider tire widths without too much worry for rubbing.

 

Rennfahrer555, check out the rules for the group(s) you'll be running with. The rules may limit your wheel size choices.

 

Yes, check the rules to see if they restrict wheel and tires sizes.

Then, figure out what tire you want to run, and see what sizes it is available in. Some tires do not come in usable sizes for some wheel diameters. For instance, there are no good Toyo RA1 sizes for 16" wheels, but there are for 15" and 17" wheels.

If you aren't going for bigger brakes, 15" is a great choice for weight, price, and tire selection.
