I have been motoring about on ice and snow for the last couple of days, our CM continues to impress.
Who is doing the install? A shop that installs clear bra & window tinting? What are they charging? I installed a 3M clear bra on my 03 myself and it took me about 3 hrs.
What are you having covered? Headlights, foglights, hood? Someone in our MINI club had a 4" strip installed on the front edge of his roof on his R56. I liked that idea.

Local shop that has been coming up to MITM for the last couple of years. AceClearBra (Ben Long).

Good job, first CM, bonnet, lower bumper and valence, head lights, door cups (4) door edges and rear boot surface. About $650 before club discount and first CM discount.

I hope he posts some pictures of the install, he took a number of them.

Interesting to see all the bezels and emblems off the CM.

Looks like a very nice job, but it is super cold here, so it will take a bit to settle.

Picked up my Countryman S on New Years Eve. Have 400 miles on it already and love it. Previously had a JCW Convertible, but traded it for my porsche. Stopped by the graphics guy today, and made arrangements for black racing stripes down the hood and tailgate. Here's a pic of my new Countryman.

That looks pretty sweet. I'm liking the white on white and the true blue with black top.

Nice! I think I'm going to go with True Blue. Got anymore pictures of the whole car? I've only seen True Blue on the wall sample at the dealer so far.

Driving Lamps

Thought I'd post a couple of pics of the driving lamps. I also posted a few pics of the rear mounted bike rack in the Yakima or Thule Rail Attachments? thread for those interested.

Driving lamps look great. Did you install yourself? Wish they were a factory option. Dealer wanted $800 or so and that doesn't make sense, particularly on a leased vehicle.

No, I didn't install them. I originally configured the car with them. Then MA told me they were unavailable with no ETA. CM came in on 26Dec10 and they were installed at the port. Was definitely going to cost more as dealer option, so I was happy for how it worked out. I love the look. You're right, though...wouldn't make sense on a leased vehicle.

Driving lamps look awesome. Still want to put those on my 06 MCS, maybe I'll give El Kabong a little gift in honor of becoming a big brother. (See how I worked that to get little gifty for me since DH is getting the new CM )

CM 300 miles so far.

Went over the 300 mile mark today.

Here is a quick picture after a full detail today with Prima products, swirl, amigo and Banana Gloss for the wax.

We washed, clayed, then used our PCs on the swirls and scratches applied during dealer prep and cleanup.

The CM as delivered was pretty, but it needs some anti-swirl and other imperfections removed.

Simply stunning! If we hadn't ordered Cosmic Blue your combo was the alternative choice. What are PCs? You did a fantastic job on the detail! You for hire?

Beautiful! That green looks great - and the chrome was an excellent choice!

Could you post more detail on your detailing? These dark colors certainly are maximized by a shine like that.

I did lease the Countryman. No incentives, money factor is rather high and residual is decent but not as strong as the hardtop. There is thread here dedicated to leasing and has all the details.

Porter Cable orbital polisher purchased at Autogeek. ShowCardDetailing (Richard Lin) also sales the PC with lots of good accessories. Richard is a NAM vendor.

Richard is a Professional Detailer, so watch for his commentary over in the Detailing 101.

Chuck M. our local expert (he claims hobbyist) and I did what could be called a fast detail about 6 hrs total.

Wash and claybar to get the grit and bits off the paint.
Polish with Prima Swirl with a white 5 inch pad and some areas needed a little more with a small orange pad & swirl.

I did the second pass with a white pad and Prima Amigo, it has a little fill and gives a bit of smoothness.

A pillar piano black was done with small orange then white pads and Prima Swirl.

Final wax was hand applied and buffed with micro-fiber towels. Used towels form Prima, ShowCar and Gariots, Chuck has lots of MF towels.

Wax was the Prima Banana Gloss a liquid carnuba/polymer blend, it is good for about 2 - 3 months in the cold months.

I will be doing weekly/daily cleanup with Hydro and MF, so I expect the BG to last a good 3 months.

Chuck dressed the tires and put a bit of Wizards on the fender flares, I will do a Black Wow treatment this coming weekend.

Black Wow is a Richard Lin product and it goes a long way and is the best product for trim (IMO).

Using a PC is time consuming but the satisfaction of seeing your MINI after the process is done is really great.

This was my learning session with Chuck who loves to share detailing tips and enjoys the work, too.

Now to do a 10 hr job on my 07, since it has only seen washes and Hydro for 3 years, it is time to bring up the shine on Scooter.

Fantastic efforts on your Countryman I'm going to try out a few of the products you mentioned...particularly the Black Wow and Banana Gloss. How are you liking the anthracite wheels? Anything special applied to them? They look stunning with your oxford green.
