JoyRide, I don't know to be honest. I am getting mine cleaned tomorrow from one of those mobile car washes. I figure all the motoring we'll do over the weekend, it'll just get dirty again. I am sure there are probably many wash places in Asheville, maybe even Robbinsville. I know they have an area there we usually wash them at MOTD, but you would need to bring your own supplies...

It's the wash places that I don't want.

Reason why is that I just waste money like mad...paying to hose off the wheels, then washing the wheels while the time wastes away just enough to not have enough time to rinse the wheels...insert more money and continue rinsing the wheels, then get the whole car wet and waste more time while hand washing the car...then pay more money to rinse the car.

I don't like their soap and I will only use a hand wash booth for rinsing off. The rinse water always to have soap residue in it also.

Really all I need is a hose that I can turn off and on when needed...saves lots of water and money IMHO.

Anybody understand this...or am I just picky???

I just got a call from a fellow club member that was up there today and he mentioned that HELLBENDER 28 is still being paved and that there are long waits trying to pass the construction vehicles

I like the smell of asphalt, in the morning. It smells like "VICTORY"

I'm afraid that the drought is just as bad up there as it is in Alabama and Georgia.

You Georgia folks. First you want to take Alabama's water and now you want to wash your car with North Carolina's water. Sheesh!

But seriously, the drought has been terrible for our MINI's here too. Haven't been able to legally wash a car in my driveway since early summer! I've gone to a local pressure wash place that recycles their water. It is the best I can do for now. . .

On the bright side, dirty MINI's look great on the Dragon!

Take Alabama's water... HA. Feel free to make a stop at our lakes... there isn't much left to pass along. I know.. it's not funny but what can you do. It's a really sad sight.

Anyways, I was up at Fontana just a couple of months ago and their normal car wash station was open. I am not at all sure if that will be the case now. Drought and cold may have shut it down.

Blue Waters sounds yummy. I've looked at their lodge as a place to stay before, lovely. I'll see if the bf wants to do something special or just have beer in the cabin. Haha. Thanks!

Actually I live in Rome...where 3 rivers converge.
We have it and everybody dips into it.
So, i know what you mean.

Rivers have no state lines...

I assume we'll be driving up 28 on Friday to get there, since, well, that's about the only way to get to Fontana from here... unless you want to take the REALLLLLLLY LONNNNNNNG way... so we'll see.

I also doubt anyone will be paving on Saturday - though I could be wrong...

It's really pretty crazy that it ONLY takes about twice as long to drive to the Dragon from Canada as it does from, say Greenville NC (where MDK is coming from tomorrow)... NC is one LONNNNNGGGG freakin state...

Guys, gals, know its a last minute thing, but I have an MTX 300 Watt amp and 12in MTX sub up for sale. I will bring it with me if anyone would liek to view, 25% of what I make, i will throw to the Chosen Charity. Not looking to make a killing, asking 125 for the amp and abot 50 on the sub. It has a free box. PM me. Oh, I have an SPT about 0630-0700. Should be up in the area about 1000 Local time. Everyone coming, be safe, please. Not trying to scare anyone, but me and my friends have lost several EXPERIENCED drivers in the past few months. Dont want to make a new friend(s) and it be a one time occasion. If you feel tired, pull over and take a nap. Be safe>

Okay, FINALLY have the car cleaned and packed!

Unfortunately, my Dalmatian has separation anxiety and chose to eat a hole right in middle of our living room carpet as her preparation! Sheesh, dog, the wifey's staying and the carpet's not even a year old!

I need a vacation--oh wait, that's right! ;-) I'll see Shelley and Melissa in about 12 hours at one Panera, Mark, Paul, and their entourages at another Panera in 14, and everybody...whenever we get there...can't remember--I just follow the car in front of me till it stops...

This will be a blast, just seeing all the cars, Miatas, too, and good folk, Miata owners, too. ;-)

I am ready as well. I have gas, the car is washed, and packed. I brought a lantern, a coat and a case of Dark Bier. Oh and the largest bag of Cheetos made.
