I was wondering if anyone might know if there is an OEM Black Grille Surround replacement part for the chrome one that comes with the now standard JCW Aero Kit that comes from the factory...

I've read that the one that fit the pre-facelifted JCW Aero Kit (the one with a 2-piece front splitter...) does not fit the current JCW Aero Kit.

Please share your wisdom! Thanks!

(I'm about a day away from taking delivery and it seems like the clock is ticking more slowly by the moment...)

Just paint it. I had mine painted gloss black and looks perfect. No issue with paint sticking to the chrome. As long as they scuff it, it'll stick.

You can also vinyl it.

I was prepared to vinyl the chrome grill surround after delivery but now that I have it I actually like the look. But I chose black headlight housings so maybe if they were silver I would still want the black grill. I don't think photos do it justice... you might want to wait until delivery to be sure you want the black grill.

I took delivery of my 2012 JCW this past week in Dallas. It looks just like Walk0080's, but I got the black wheels. Mine came with the chrome. I was anticipating the black surrounds because that was suppose to be the change for 2012??? I actually prefer the chrome now, especially since I do not have a total black out with the other chrome stuff.

I believe that if you build a Cooper S with JCW Aero Kit option, it will include black grille surrounds. I am working on finding some part numbers to confirm this since we have not had a 2012 S come in with an Aero. With the new parts catalog update next week, I am hoping it will provide us with some information.

My 2012 MCSa with JCW aero that I ordered from Sewell Plano came with the chrome grill surround. It was the first 2012 of any model at Sewell back in August. Mike, Jeremy Lucky should have my build if you want to refer to it.

When you build a factory JCW in the configurator it shows it having the black grille surround. If you build it as an MCS with JCW aerokit it shows it having the chrome grille surround. I don’t know if you can swap them out afterwards, but your dealer should know. Best of luck with your new MINI!

Outmotoring.com has your solution
http://www.outmotoring.com/mini-coop...rill_trim.html $75

Easy snap in on the bottom. Top is snaps and 2 or 3 screws.

Fixes the top cleanly and the bottom can be done in vinyl as others have said. Just one option.

My 2012 MCSa with the JCW Aero Kit came with the chrome grille surrounds but I raised heck with my sales guy about it as the configurator showed it as black all around when I ordered. He took care of me and had black surrounds for me when I took delivery (in fact I have my chrome surrounds still if anyone is looking for a pair). So the OEM parts are out there and fit.

I emailed them to see if they were talking about old factory AERO kit, but haven't heard back yet...

Take a look at the configurator again. All of the fJCWs show chrome surrounds now, and have for a couple of months now. The only shots that show the black surrounds are the thumbnails that come up when you are already in the configurator and click the model name to change models. Once you're in the configurator proper all the fJCWs show chrome surrounds.

You are correct, it does now, but it did not when I ordered mine on October 5th.

And to make it worse, it was model dependent for a while. Some showed chrome, some showed black... gotta love the consistency.

When I picked up my R58 JCW in March of this year it was chrome. I

went to the parts dept. and ordered a black one off I believe the 2010-

2011 JCW's, fit perfectly.

So why does everyone who carries the part says it doesn't fit 2011-2012 JCWs?

Like this...

My R57 with JCW Aero kit came with chrome but was kinda loose. Even before I took delivery they order a replacement in black at no charge.

That makes me even more confused because Sewell makes it clear that it doesn't fit 2010+ Aero Kits on their product page. But in your case, he even offers to take it back if it doesn't fit...
