I ended up trading my JCW on the spot, without much planning in advance and never had a chance to pull parts off it. Not a real big deal: it included JCW Alcantara wheel, shift ****, and shift/brake boots, and CAI. So instead of listing the JCW MFSW for sale, I have the OEM one for sale. As for the other stuff, I wouldn't have gotten that much. What I did keep and have for sale is a nice set of lightweight OZ wheels. In the end it's all good for me.

My wife loves the CTS V cars. I know they are nice, but I just can't get past the chiseled look of them. I guess for the same reason I like Ferraris and don't like Lambos. But they are a hoot to watch in World Challenge racing.

Hey guys, ... NOT A RANT ... JUST FACTS to ponder ... own a 2011 JCW Clubbie that had a $38K MSRP... I was 'thinking' to trade on a Golf R with same MSRP ...

The dealer was really surprised has to how much MINI's values are deteriorating. This guy was very apologetic. He showed me 5 values:

Two different black book values
Two different auctions from the last 30 days
KBB

These values ranged from $23K - $25K (wholesale). Again he really was in awe ...

He was willing to give me $25K as my car was in his words ... 'Perfect' ...

I am not upside down by any means ... but WOW ... I must admit I purchased this car as many have said ... MINI has had a good rep on holding values. The Mgr said same at dealer and again was really in disbelief on current values. He also stated this is the first time he has EVER seen MINI's values decrease as they usually increase. He also stated that the auctions are full of these cars ... Only the messenger here ...

My STI that I traded on JCW was close to all things being equal at time of trade. STI held its value in then some ... compared to JCW ...

FWIW ...

I realize you were only the messenger, but how would the value of a 2011 JCW 'usually increase'? JCW aren't collector cars (yet) and are mass produced. It doesn't surprise me at all that the value will drop during ownership. Heck, my 2007 MCS is depreciating to stay the same amount that I still owe on the car..

It's probably more related to the "Clubbie". Sales in last 2 years (posted around forum & others with same selling problem) have dropped. Some blame the CM

I am going to keep my JCW for a long time - I normally trade cars often - I went from a MCS to a JCW - because I like the way Coopers drive - there is nothing out there for 35K that even wish to have

I would maybe consider a Cayman or a Boxster - too pricey
