there are many opinons on what feels right and to who.I can say this the Mini/Jcw feels too heavy when in sport.Heavy with feedback is not good ,light with feedback is good.Drive a 911 then drive a bimmer or mini then you will see the diff between worldclass steering and mass market

I haven't heard for certainty that there will be a coupe, but that it would be "a shorter wheelbase"; although, I was sure that's what that meant. Also, that it would be a1.6L and considering a supercharger?? Check out this link: http://www.caradvice.com.au/128926/2...-from-impreza/. I just don't know if I can wait until a 2014 model. That's 1 year I'd have to drive the MINI out of warranty and that's unnerving; which is partly why I want to make the jump to Subaru. I prefer to buy a car new and keep it 6-7 years. As much as I do like the MINI, even with some of its shortcomings, we all know the reliability and build quality is just not there.

The Subaru coupe was just shown at the Tokyo new car show,Toyota will even have there own version since yota now holds a stake in fuji heavy industrys which owns subaru.

I should know because my family owns many newcar dealerships and subie is one of the brands we sell. How I ever got involved with a mini is a mystery.

The Subaru BRZ (co-developed with Toyota) does not excite me at all. It's basically a competitor to the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, and will not be AWD, which is one of the strengths of the STi.

Yeah, the BRZ? That will be released as a Scion in the US from what I've heard. I don't think I'm interested in a Scion, personally.

I wasn't comparing the STi to a Porsche. Fine, I get it. You don't like the MINI or BMW steering. I'm only saying their steering feels better to me than the STi. I have tracked an E46 M3, M5, M6, and the JCW so I have experienced them at speed cornering on a dedicated race surface. Whether a Porsche is better is a moot point. It's not part of my discussion nor consideration. I only make the comparison between the STi and what I have driven.

And like I said everyone has their own opinon.I have tracked many a car too and have co driven in the nurburgring and spa 24 hr events from 1998 thru 2003 so I do know a little bit about how a car should feel.

Drive a wrx and a sti and you will say the wrx has better steering feel and the reasons for the difference are the front diff and the width of the tires. The sti will feel less reactive to steering input and you will feel like the steering rack is slower to respond when in reality the gear ratio on the rack is much quicker.

I have seen several JCW owners who have said. "no torque steer". Maybe on the newer ones. maybe a diff sway bar. Can anyone chime in on this. I have a 2012 JCW conv sitting on a dock somewhere. thanks

I don't know about the newer ones. I can't imagine they are too much different. When I first got my 09 JCW I was in denial about the torque steer, but in the end it has it. You learn to adjust your driving for it.

The JCW is a great car. You will love it. I had mine for 3 1/4 years and enjoyed it while I had it. I was just ready for something else.

Dean I sure can understand that, I have some torque steer on my 06 MCS,but not much. Usually when at a stand still and pulling out into traffic and nailing it hard. This will be my 4th Mini, 1965 and 1967 both Austin Cooper S, the 06 and soon I the JCW. I've always love the smile and fun factor. The WRX is a great vehicle but I just don't find myself looking at one and smiling like I do every time I see a MINI/Mini. That and having a convertible with some punch does it for me every time.

Mini did a software upgrade in 2010/2011 to eliminate/reduce torque steer.

depends on miles and condition.

My car was less then 12000 miles no dings/dents ,no scratches, clean carfax ,no performance mods , jcw aerokit/wing and the oem wheels and tires reinstalled with 500 miles.

south florida area will have lower values.

I have to find a new car to smile about every few years. I get bored and want something else. The only exception has been the E46 M3. I had it for four years. I didn't want to get rid of it but got nervous about $4+ gas prices and the collapsing economy in fall '08, so I got rid of it. I regret that, but there isn't anything I can do about it. I had 3+ years of MINI and that is enough. I have no interest in getting another MINI.

And with the STi women can stop calling my car "cute."

We researched both Evo and STi. Based on price, performance, features, reputation, quality and reliability we chose the STi. It came out on top in just about every way, and for less money.

We bought two of them.

Mastro(sanford and tampa) will deal also try sport(orlando) and bird road subaru(miami)always buy in a area that has muliple dealers.A deal on a sti is $1000 to 1500 over invoice +tax and tag.

Try to work a otd deal to include tax and dealer fee instead of invoice+profit + tt and fee.

Remember the best deal will always buy out of dealerstock because subies have huge holdback and dealercash for the dealer. When subie dealers do a trade they split the holdback with the trading dealer.
