New JCW Cabrio Owner

Have test driven a few Cooper S cabrios and instantly fell in love. I have 4 kids under age 8 so i don't have any business buying one of these machines but i had to have one. In my search for a slightly used Cooper S Cabrio i stumbled across a great deal (i think) for a '09 JCW Cabrio.

'09 Black on Black Letherette with 2k miles on it. Cold Weather, Premium packages and USB/ipod. Wish it had xenons and a auto dim mirror but i guess you can't have it all (any idea how much a mirror would cost?)...It's as close to New as possible and is awesome.

I have had mostly sport cars in the past '93 prelude SI 4ws, '95 Porsche 968 cabrio (also a great car) and a '04 M3 E46 cabrio but this Cooper is a better/funner drive than anything i have experienced.

I look forward to watching these boards and picking up little tips....my initial reaction has been very positive except for the road noise which after reading seems to be a problem with the standard runflats and a little bit of noise coming from the right corner boot area when the roof is up.

Cheers!

Congratulations! And welcome!

I've actually checked into the auto-dimming mirror myself; it's allegedly a straight "plug-n-play" replacement on the standard BMW line of vehicles; but I haven't found anything that tells me either way what the story is with the MINI's.

Finding one for a reasonable price, though: that's a whole other quest... As with all BMW/MINI parts purchased new from the dealer, be prepared to part with your wallet (in this case, ~$300+)...

I've decided to just keep my eyes and ears open: online, salvage yards, swap meets, etc. A good used one should turn up eventually...

Just think of it as a gently used present you can give to the first child that reaches driving age (and go buy yourself a new one!).

I think the dealer socked me around $150 to change out the standard mirror but then again, that's Mid-Atlantic prices, your mileage may vary.

Congrats and welcome to NAM, be sure to post your new 'baby' pictures and for heaven's sake, WAVE!!

Man, I need to shop where you do! RealOEM lists this part for $270-280 without the universal garage door opener (http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...26&hg=51&fg=40)... And that's just the part (no installation labor)...!
