@wahoo - what wheels and tires are you running in for autox? Also, what did you do to bump you to stx? Hows it running with the 'big boys'? Great pic btw

Wheels are Rota SVNs in 17 x 7.5 +45. Tires are shaved Direzza Star Specs in 235/40-17.

The car is a work in process due to dealers not meeting their shipping commitments. Right now it has Ireland Engineering camber plates and Hotchkis rear control arms. KW v3 coilovers as modified by Texas Speedwerks for the JCW and a rear ARB also from TSW are supposed to be here this week. A front ARB from a MINI D is on the way from England.

We chose STX over CS based on advice from a great MINI mechanic who has autocrossed nationally, including in an '02 MINI, and to try and reduce the annual tire budget. Based on talking to people who who run Hoosiers in stock class, we were estimating $3-4k annually in tires. Putting it in STX increases the upfront costs some, but greatly reduces the tire budget.

I have done well with it locally. At the divisional level, my son was midpack and I was near the back against fully prepped cars. (I went into this knowing that I am really the tire warmer for my son. He is a performance test driver and engineer for a major tire company. I am a lawyer. Wonder who spends more time behind the wheel at speed?) We have regional events in July and August so we should have a better idea then after it is fully prepped and we have had some more seat time in it.

Probably more than you wanted to know!

Here is a clip from FedEx Field.

My previous car and the car I used as trade-in was a yellow 2004 mini(non-s) that I have owned since Summer of 04. I took care of it very well. I was happy when my MA was surprised to see that the interior was super clean.
I originally ordered a 2010 MCS but after a week of lurking around the factory JCW forum, I acted quickly to upgrade the order. Thanks Guys. Like many others, I didn't want to "wonder" what owning a JCW would be like.

To go from a N/A mini to the JCW is a huge rush when I experience the difference on the road. I loved the 04 mini but man this thing is insane. Also, I've never owned or driven a fast car in my life. The fastest thing I've driven was probably my brother's old 98 prelude which was lightly modded.

I originally ordered double white stripes but I changed my mind. I sort of want a clean look now. I'm not too happy with the current factory stock rims but as long as it's black I'm happy.

I'm looking forward to all the adventures I will have with the car and will be posting more pics in the future.

I love it! Its exactly how I woulda wanted one.

I think black looks awesome, but its strange though, cause its the color I see the least. I see a ton of the dark gray and the dark blue color, but rarely see a black one.

Thanks for all of the comments guys.

Here is a quick post with a new picture. I purchased new rims and springs.
-17" Motegi SP10 Hyper black
-NM Engineering Lowering Springs

The ride height is great and the difference in handling is obvious.

Here is the pic but there's some more in my gallery

Did Mach V do the springs? I wouldn't worry much about the price. Neither Passport or Sterling seem to give much in the way of discounts. I got free mats, two nice key chains, and on the road in under and hour.

I have a similar model too and love it. I got the BLACK, JCW 09 cabriolet and it is such a treasure. I want to drive and drive. Unlike you I'm playing up the chrome trim on my car, I also have the white bonnet stripes. I get compliments all the time. I have the chrome bonnet scoop and the exterior chrome trim option as well. I like the black with the chrome. It looks a little retro which is fine.

Thanks for the comments guys.

@redduc yeah, Mach V did the springs, mount, balance and alignment. They were awesome. I would recommend them to any Mini owners who live near D.C/Maryland/NoVa area.

@jeanrabelais post some pics! would love to see a "chromed out" black mini
