I haven't noticed any squeal specifically when backing up.
I do get the "normal" brake squeal from time to time, during light application of the pedal; stops when I push a little harder, of course. It seldom gets to the point of being annoying.

Mine squeal a bit more than I'd like, and like you say here, especially when backing up and gently applying the brakes. Granted, I only have 600 miles on him, so it may not last for ever, too.

Quote: Any squeal from yours? Or, did it disappear after awhile? Thanks.
Yes, only when backing up. And no.

Mine squeal backwards and forwards, but only when I park outside overnight. If I park in the garage, there is 0 squeal the next day. Weird.

Mine squeal but only when going forward and not all the time and only the driver side front. It happens more when the car is "hot", driving long distances.

I suspect It needs to be loaded up with alot of anti squeal compound. The dealer can't fix it because they can't reproduce it. Once it comes out of warranty I'll get to the bottom of it, if I can, and fix it. I've read people say the Brembos squeak so I'm not too worried about it.

Another thought that I had about the squeal too, is that the weather is starting to get cold. It didn't get over 35 degrees today, so that gives you an idea. That, and the brakes still may have to seat themselves too.

Here is my JCW with Motegi SP-10. I bought these for snow tires and like them more than I thought I would. The silver stripe inside goes pretty well with the chrome trim.

More pictures here.

Say, I thought that the JCW brake rotors were cross drilled. Where are all the plain rotors coming from? Stock?

JCW cross drilled rotors?

The cross drilled JCW Brembo Brakes are the $2000. package. To have cross drilled on a JCW it is a $300 dealer installed option. Don't know if that would help with the brake squealing though. Most have said that the cross drilled rotors is more cosmetic than effecitive.

Thanks - This helps, but not looking to stop squealing - looking as a possible track upgrade The cross-drilled are generally not a good idea on the track because the rotors tend to crack around the holes. I also had the holes plug up with brake dust which then cause the brakes to chatter. So it is plain rotors for me.

With that said I know people who are running the JCW/Brembo crossdrilled rotors on the track with no problem - go figure

I've always used slotted rotors on the track and ummmm... spirited... street driving, and they've always served me well.

Dan: I know that it is here somewhere, but what are the recommended tire sizes for the Rota RB 17" wheel for my JCW? Right now I have 215 x 45 x17" but I thought that maybe a 40 size might work, but have no idea what height. I've heard about 235 x 40 x 17, but Tire Rack doesn't seem to have a good selection of that size in well recommended tires.

I have the NM Engineering RSe07 18" rims...

These clear the JCW brakes no problem and replaced a set of JCW R105s (18") that wouldn't without spacers.

Sorry for being off topic, did you have to trim the Rocky Mounts to clear the hatch? That's the euro version?

Love the wheels BMC. I was looking at those as well but ended up picking up a set of used R105s like you had for a price I couldn't turn down (using a 5mm spacer).

Yeah, they are the euro mounts and they were trimmed. The guys at RM installed them for free and did the trimming. With the hatch up, there is about a 1" space between the end of the tray and the hatch.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but does anyone know if OZ Alleggerita's will fit over the JCW brakes?

OZ Alleggeritas in 17X7 with 37 offset clear much more than OEM and are much lighter and the offset moves the tire out just right even with my 2009 factory JCW lower 2" from stock on coilovers. I had 205-45-17's and no rub.
