looking skinny snows for 09 JCW

Any wheels that are 6-6 1/2" wide with skinny snows that would fit over the JCW brakes on a 09?

Thanks much,

If they're not on here already, add Focal F05 on the list

I just got these for my JCW as winter wheels, they're 17"x7.5" offset 42 (I believe, may be 38 not 100% I forget.) They have a plastic hub adapter, and there's no vibration with them, perfectly smooth. What's great about these wheels is there is TONS of caliper clearance (comparing to the mesh JCW wheels) they're also super cheap, $118 a piece. I weighed them with Blizzak LM60 tires and they EXACTLY the same as the 17x7 JCW wheels with Dunlop tires. Both are 43.75 lbs with tires, and I actually really like the way they look on the car, maybe even more so than the stock wheels! They also make the car look lower because the tires are so chunky. Will post pics tomorrow if anyone is interested.

I am considering Rotiform BLQ 17x8 et30 for my 2011 Clubman S for spring. I also planning to put JCW Brembo BBK some time in the future so need to know if these two go together with no spacers. Contacted Rotiform, they never tried, asked around on various forums and no help... Anybody?

Aftermarket Wheels

Hi Tata;

You want and need a wheel with a 42 offset. I wouldn't waste your time with 17" wheels. Replacing 17" with 17" is like kissing your sister!

Keep your factory wheels and tires intact and go for 225-40-18 or 225-35-19 on 7.5" rims you will never have a rubbing problem. The 225-40-18 (wrapped in Nitto 555 rubber) is the size I have and it totally corrects the 6 MPH speedo error at 80MPH and handles like it is on rails!!

I regularly put 500 lbs in the back and the tire disappears into the wheel well but never scrapes!

Looks good and works better!

Good Luck!

Has anyone tried these replica wheeels?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/17-SILVER-MI...item1e69ef5059

They look good and in my e-mail contact with them they say they will fit the JCW brakes.

They certainly look nice...my concern would be what they weigh compared to OEM. Additional weight can change not only affect engine performance but fuel mileage will suffer as well...

I went through all the posts again.. so are there really no 16's that will fit over the JCW brakes? I know someone with an R53 that has JCW brakes and they are running 15's. I was hoping at least to get down to a 16.

I believe the brakes on R53 JCW are what the R56S have now, hence they can runner smaller wheels

I found out that there are actually 2 different brake kits.. there is a 16" kit and 17" kit. you need to find out from Mini on which you have. I found out I have the 16" kit so I can go down to 16's for Autocross... now I just need to find the rims.. ;-)

Yes, the 09+ Factory JCW only comes w/the big brake kit. Just pointing that out to make sure no other readers / less technical owners come along, read that, and think maybe their 09+ Factory JCW has a smaller brake kit and they can accommodate 16" rims.

Thanks. I liked the R105s but they were so damn heavy. These new NM Engineering rims are very light and so much easier to keep clean. I gave the new owner of the old rims a great deal too!

Agreed, they'll become my winter wheels at some point in the future.

Hey Dan,
I would like to know if the Rota Grid (17x7.5 Mini fitment
+45 offset), will clear the 09 JCW brakes.
I did not see it specifically noted on your website (like some of the others).

My SSRs have TPMS sensors. (Though I'm not expecting them to fit the JCW when it arrives.)

I don't think we've tried those, but they have pretty good clearance. My guess is that they will fit.

I tried fitting the 16x6.5 SSR Type-Cs on the new JCW, they did actually seem to fit, and the wheel orated, but there was no clearance around the caliper. When I took it off, I found it'd scraped the paint on the corners of the calipers.
