MINI F57 Cabrio: Roof Replacement, Union Jack Compatibility & Tension Cable Repair
Good evening everyone,
I’m the owner of a 2022 Mini Cooper Cabrio F57 100 kW and new to the forum.
Last week, probably due to an attempted theft, my convertible top was cut in several places, including one of the cables that maintain the top’s tension.
I’m exploring a few options:
The dealership quoted me €3,500 for a full replacement (though I hadn’t noticed the cut cable at the time of the quote).
Turning this problem into an opportunity by replacing my standard black (Schwarz) top with the Union Jack convertible top.
I found the following official part numbers:
Cover: 51 34 7364828
Convertible top repair kit: 54 34 7276922
Union Jack top: 51 34 7364829
The last number differs only in the final digit, but the parts department told me it’s not compatible, probably due to this difference.
I’d love to hear from your experience:
Has anyone actually done this upgrade despite the official incompatibility?
Are the lateral tension cables included in the new top or in the repair kit? The dealership couldn’t give me a clear answer.
Is it possible to order the Union Jack top even if, according to my VIN, it does not show as available?
Can the broken tension cable be purchased separately? If so, is it included in the tension cable repair kit?
