Blind Spot Monitors

My local MINI dealer assures me Blind Spot Monitors are not an option on even the new 2024 MINI convertibles, but it turns out that there IS an aftermarket third party option for adding them. We are scheduled to have the Advent 3.0 installed by an area shop next Saturday, and will report back how we like the result.
Here is the product: https://www.adventproducts.com/ADAS/blind-spot/?sku=ADVBSD30
And here is an article about installing it in a MINI convertible:

For anyone not familiar with blind spot monitors, they are LEDs that flash whenever someone is in your blind spot. We've had them in our 2017 Subaru Outback for 7 years now, and have found them extremely useful at ensuring we don't change lanes into unexpected traffic.

Update: Our MINI now has Advent 3.0 blind spot detection on both sides, installed today by a pro shop. It worked exactly as expected and hoped on the way home, with a red LED flashing whenever anyone came up behind me in either highway lane next to ours. The LEDs are at the bottom of each side post of the front windshield, rather than inside the outside rearview mirrors.

The system doesn't kick in until our car is going at least 15 MPH.

Something I've not tested yet, is that if I try to change into a lane that is already occupied by another car, there will also be a loud warning tone, rather than just the red LED. The loudness of the tone is settable, but on a top-down convertible, both we and the installer figured more is better.

Cost installed was $1,400, and well worth it if it prevents even one crash.

Nice, i have the blind spot euro mirrors on my R58 and R52 Convertible and they help a bunch. We are one of the few places that can get them.

F55 F56 F57 and F60 is what the ones below fit.

These seem pretty cool. How difficult are they to install?

It took the shop about 5 hours to install the Advent blind spot monitors along with front and rear dashcams.

For the blind spot mirrors, turn mirror al the way out. Use a trim tool and put pressure and pop out. You will have two wire to clip out and then clip back in. If you have auto dim you will have 4 wires.

Snaps back in, press and snap the center. That's the tool I use.

I want to get this for my Mom's F57
Does you Mini have the full factory sensors? (included in the Signature and Iconic trim packages) I need to know if the Advent system can be installed with all those already in place.

I also want to get front-rear dash cams. Does the latter come with the Advents system? I can't tell from their website.
If not, which cams did you get, and are you happy with them?

I want these! I feel like they'd really help. I loved the mirrors on my Focus ST for the reason of being able to really see what's around me

Reply: Yes, my 2022 mini is a Sidewalk Edition, so has all the sensors except parking assist. The Advent system appears to have replaced two of the original rear bumper sensors, but both it and the original functions all still work fine.

Reply: The Blind Spot Monitor from Advent does not include dash cams. Those I bought from Acumen. When working, they work well, both front and rear. However, they have an annoying habit of beeping loudly on occasion, for no obvious reason either we or our installing dealer can determine. I likely would not buy that system again, only for that reason.
