Ordered my 2022 cooper s iconic convertible on 11/1.
I finally received notice in my garage "production begins, today's the day: your mini has entered the production queue"
so, does that mean it's actually on the production line and actually being built? Or that it's still waiting but getting close?!!!! 🤷 how long before I have it in my home garage? It still has to also ship across the ocean to the usa......
It'll probably be done with production in about 14 days, then it'll go to the port for shipment. How long it sits at the port is kind of unpredictable based on when the next ship arrives. Could be a couple days, but could be a few weeks.
The trip across the ocean depends on where you live. If you're east coast, the trip is much shorter than if you're west coast since it'll have to come through the Panama canal.
My experience this fall was that it started production Oct 11, completed Oct 25th, got on a boat Nov 8th, and made port in Oxnard Dec 3rd. I picked it up from my dealer in Albuquerque Dec 10th.
I ordered my JCW Convertible on 8/25. Started production on 12/2 and finished 12/29. Dispatched from the factory on 1/4 and arrived at the port on 1/5. No clue when it's actually going to be put on a ship, my sales person hasn't gotten back to me about that. It's been a long process and it's nearing the end, but still a little annoying that there's no much info presented. I think the Mini Garage needs more detailed information. Every check mark is a little tease as to what's going on. I don't want a little tease, I want to know what's happening. Like, why was my car in production for 3 weeks when it usually only takes one?
In the same boat (not literally, lol), but not worried about timing right now - they estimated 12-16 weeks from March 1 for mine, which puts it at late May-June ish.
I happened to get one of my dealership’s first production slots for 2023 (woo!), and it sounds like they’re being severely limited in what they can place for custom orders throughout the year. Dude was REALLY hoping I’d jump for an electric, because if I didn’t like the final product, they’d get an extra model for the lot ahead of schedule.
Unfortunately for him, he’d made the most of letting me hear the “S” engine go “vroom!”
it was a done deal at that point 😆
My MINI has reached the port after leaving NedCar!
How long have folks recently had to wait for a ship at this point?
MINI customer service couldn’t give me a vessel name and said to try back by the end of the week. I’m not super confident that they’ll have any info, as they’ve given me some pretty inaccurate information in the past (wrong factory, wrong destination port, wrong model entirely), so I might just have to speculate until the tracker updates.
I’m excited to finally meet the newest MINI in my family!
