We came in at #10 on Consumer reports most reliable cars. I was pretty surprised to see Mini on there.

They wouldn't since the F55/56 are the new flagship models, with the F54 Clubman out in weeks and F57 Convertable out in a years time.
Seems like a joke rating system really. In broad strokes most large imported manufacturers made it to the top 10. As there is no description of the rating system which seems completely subjective.

I agree, I have a lot of neighbors with new cars. I live in a top end neighborhood, a lot of Lexuses Mercedes Ford's, and all, I've heard their complaints. One of my neighbors has a brand-new Ford Escape and she's on her third transmission.
I really think that MINI has come a long way I virtually do not have any issues with my car, tight as a drum, smooth, no rattles I have the S 4cy..great engine.

CR bases its ratings on real users' opinion surveys, so I'd say this sea-change for MINI is significant.
I'm not entirely surprised by it. The UKL platform is a huge deal for BMW, and was widely tested. The engines are new, but BMW engines are nearly always great. As for the rest, all the tech was flushed out in the various F-series BMW models for years before trickling down to MINI for their F-series models. MINI F-series models utilize the same wiring, coding, and components as other F-series BMW models.
On paper at least, there was every expectation that this 3rd Gen MINI should be the best build yet, and I believe that it is.

These are for corporation product portfolios (brands) and not for individual models. I believe that this has nothing to do with the specifics of newer or older minis as it says nothing about model years considered.
Huh?
Yea, its there on top that great , a couple years ago they were in the middle to bottom. Before that near the top.
