Mud/Splash guards

Do any of you have them?
For those who have not received their cars....Are you planning to install them?

Is there somewhere with pictures of those. I like the idea of them as my driveway is gravel and sometimes the little stones stick in the tire treads until your going fast then let go with some impact force.

The official accessories PDF has a small picture of them but its not great. I always have them as it saves a lot of dirt being flung up the side of the car.

FedEx says my mudflaps should arrive tomorrow, 7/12 from Sewell. I'll try to get them mounted on Sunday, time permitting, and shoot some photos. I'm still getting stuff thrown up on the doors from the front tires so they're going on, no question. I may test fit the rears with blue tape and decide if they'll be permanent or not.

Thanks for the forthcoming pictures, can you also maybe share some tips / tricks to mounting them? They're likely going to be my next purchase. Sewell parts states that they're currently in production and should be available late July / early august. If they're easy to mount, i might try tackling that job myself on a weekend.

Just a quick note-

The F56 mudflaps have been arriving much more quickly than expected. We would expect there to be plenty of supply on these before August.

Thanks!

Thanks for the update, I think I'm going to place an order and keep them on hand and maybe have them installed at my first oil change after my break in period, if the timing is right.

Got the Mudflaps on Sat just like FedEx said and installed them on Sunday. They're actually rather easy but there are a couple of caveats and NO instructions come with the parts. I'm trying to find out how to get photos inline with text instead of loaded as thumbnails at the bottom of the page. I will then do a "how to" article in a separate thread and post the link here.

All in all there's not much to this so if you're moderately handy I wouldn't fear doing this and order away. I've included two shot here of the finished product. I hope the fronts provide more coverage than they look like they will as that's where I seem to need it the most.

Thanks for posting pictures. They're much smaller than I had imagined. I'll still take the plunge, I'm all for more precautions / protections than fewer. Since I'm not nearly moderately handy, I'll have them installed along with some other items which are on their way, when I take my car in for the first post-break-in period oil change.

Let us know how it works out.
I just bought a MCS yesterday and drove it home 30 minutes away. I noticed that the area behind the front wheels got dirty fast!

For anyone still considering ordering the mud / splash guards. Looks like the fronts are backordered according to my order at Sewell :-( The order summary states an est. ship date of 8/8/2014

I had hoped to get them installed at my first post-break in oil change which will be coming up in the next couple of weeks. Let's see if the shipping Gods will smile like they did on my last order

Have to admit I'm impressed with how well these seem to be protecting the sides of my car. The rears aren't much of an issue because there's really nothing behind them, but the slop I was finding on my doors, thrown up by the front tires, has vanished. Can't believe I've just been lucky since installing these so I'm giving them the credit.

Here's a link to the install thread and my PDF on how to:

Cheers

Just curious if this is "slop" when the road is wet, or in general.

Slop to me is road tar, horse droppings, and dead critter parts that can't always be avoided while driving (I live in the Boonies). My first wash (no MF's) had slop on the doors on both sides. My second wash (with MF's) had really nothing to speak of on the sides. Was I just lucky? - Maybe. But the difference was (not) noticeable.

Thanks PAPA for the tutorial!!

Mud/Splash guards are arriving in the mail.
Ours came today in a huge double box.
They were ordered from ECS.

Anyone have these installed at the dealer?
Cost for labor?

I had my non-dealer MINI specialist install these at the same time I was in for an oil change. He complained that they were a PITA to install esp with the clips, as Papa documented so accurately.

I was charged less than half of the labor my MA would have charged. Worth it to me. But I think different dealers charge different labor I think... Let's put it this way I saved over $80

I had the mud flap installed prior to delivery. I have also had a problem with the rear left popping the pin and the flap hanging about every 4k miles. I have lost count on how many times it has been back just to have the dealer installed mud flap reattached. Unless you really need them do not get them.

That's very strange. The mud flaps have adhesive, as well as a couple of screws, and three clips each, which are a bear to put on because of the tension as well as 2 sharp pincers which grab onto the mudflap and the body of the car.

I find it strange that has happened to you because of how solidly the flaps have to be put on.

Hopefully they're actually installing them correctly.
