Used to be all the enhancement a guy needed was a little dab of Brylcreem. The only enhancement sound wise I enjoy is the whine of my SC. Now they've removed that from the line so I guess they have to invent a whole new myth.

Bob. How is the manual transmission on the S? Especially the clutch. None of the reviews of the S had a manual transmission and I had wondered at the time if there was a reason for this....after all the clutch problems with the R56 S.

Apples and oranges.

The noise enhancer ( what this thread is about ) is electronic module box mounted behind LR panel in the boot. The noise maker for the R56 is not the same and as you say mounted in the engine compartment.

The noise enhancer for the F56 is quite similar to the one in the BMW 6 series.

This is similar device aftermarket based on same principal: http://www.soundracer.se/?p=98

I looked in that dark place in my 1.5L... the wiring harness is there, but thankfully no noisemaker... really don't need it... loving the 1.5... (can't believe I just typed that...)

Yes, my F56 justa (1.5) has a nasty growl:-) I'm hoping a cold air intake and aftermarket exhaust will enhance it further

What color you have?
Below are the pics of my home-made noise-maker delete kit with $5 worth of HomeDepot plumbing supplies (DOS are out of business).

I took noise-maker plumbing out mostly because I was working on the intake regardless. I can't say that I noticed any performance gains or much in the way of noise reduction. OTOH, I do have an open K&N intake kit, and it makes more noise than noise-maker could ever aspire.

The EQ in my after-market Audison amplifier cannot be tuned properly until I disable Active Sound through the f56's computer. The coding won't recognize the amp and shuts down the source. I have a workaround, but it can't be tuned until I get the BMW coding done for "disable active sound." The BMW codes are all listed on the Bimmer Coding sites.

I have the 2014 F56 Manual (non-HK). I just had a pro audio shop install tweeters in A-pillars, a sub in the boot, and two amps. I kept the 4 stock non-HK 4-inchers for mid-range. Here's my problem: Good part: my technician was able to wire around Active (i.e., "artificial") Sound Design, thus defeating it in terms of audio. Bad part: he could not write the BMW code to the F56 that disables the car's computer coding for ASD. BMW forums show coding for "Disable Active Sound." Plenty of BMW coders can do exactly that. My two issues are that dealer software updates will wipe the coding, and (2) if I were to buy the cables, software, token, instructions, etc., on eBay, I have no idea what I'd be buying or be sure it would work. My MINI dealer has never dealt with this. In fact, they said, "Check the forums." Could someone send me a PM with a good vendor for the cable, software, etc.? I never bargained for this when I bought the F56. I liked my noisy 2006 Justa better in terms of doing after-market audio.

I'd post this in the Navagation and Audio forum here, and maybe under the Gen II similar forum, because they get a lot more hits on that forum (they have an Audio forum too).

Hey Chuck,
Did you leave the Canbus connection to the asd hooked up with the bypass harness? If not the software for the sound system cannot be updated. I built a harness and posted it. Do a search under asd bypass.
I have the HK system and if I disconnect the can bus connection to the amp Mini will not be able to update the "Stereo" system.
Also if you search the BMW forums Technics makes a harness to bypass the asd. Not sure if it will work on the Mini without modification. Check my post I have all the wiring diagrams do you can make your own or mod his if it does not work.
Keep us posted.
Good Luck! :-)
