Scooper

I'm thinking about a fresh air hood scoop to manually open when it's not raining & close when it is for my 2015 F-56. Anybody know anything ? I have a NM washable air cleaner.my carbon-fiber orig. is non-functionable & I don't believe it ever could be.

Water ingestion from rain will not be a problem, you're over thinking it

The only scoops I know of that DON'T come with a whole new intake are the ones from Leap Works https://leap.works/

Not challenging the interest here, but what is the expected/desired result in a stock setup, given that in that setup the fresh air intake piping into the airbox bypasses the hood scoop completely?

when I bought the car it had no stock set-up. all it had was a NM washable air filter & the carbon-fiber hood scoop was sealed with what looks like a removable plate in the back of it. what I want is to take out one little screw that holds the whole thing (I think) & take it in the house & noodle that little plate out & re-install. what I want is fresh air.

Ahhhh I had forgotten you weren't running the stock intake. Totally get it.

I don't think just removing the rear "screen" will get you added airflow. The hood doesn't have any opening behind the scoop. When you get the scoop out, take a look at where the airflow would need to go.

well, the ne little screw didn't let the whole thing loose. I didn't look close but there seemed to be a gasket covering 2 rectangle holes in the hood, which could be razor-knifed out, I didn't look closely yet, but that little oval? cover looked like the grill Only no holes like grill, solid black plastic) I haphazardly looked at the set-up, today I'll pay more attention to the entire deal.

yeh, that gasket over the 2 rectangle holes turned out to be plastic carbon-fiber. after the screw came out, it still wouldn't lift off, so prying it off would happen. anybody ever remove theirs ? I wonder where they anchor down (& how many) I'm going to look at it again & see where the 2 rectangle holes would end up. I might not like it & go some other way but I have to imagine it first.

I would take a look at the EVenturi intake instructions to see how the scoop works:
https://www.eventuri.net/wp-content/...de-Updated.pdf

Like I said, you can't just open up the stock scoop without serious work to get it to feed into the OEM intake. It is built completely different from 1st and 2nd generation scoops. The 3rd gen scoop is purely cosmetic, which is why its being removed altogether for the 4th gen cars. If you want to keep the OEM intake, the Leap Works scoop is your only option. EVenturi is you want to upgrade the intake.

What I will do is get a MU 3 primered hood scoop from Leap.Works for $199 & paint it myself w/ Mini Cooper Black & sealer. my Carbon Fiber non-functioning stock scoop deteriorated BAD ! 5 years & 40K mi. it looks like crap. no more Carbon Fiber. What I'm wondering is how to get the original off of my '15 MCS ? there doesn't seem to be any screws or nuts, just little 5 plastic studs ? just pry or pull ? who out there has any idea ? THANKS

got my Leapworks MU 3 primered hoodscoop, I likey but I feel like I got robbed. $199 - scoop w/ 2 tie-down studs in middle + S&H $80, Automotive touch-up paint ain't here yet so I painted & sealed what won't be seen underneath. $316 & I already had sealer. O.K. so I'm cheap. after I took off old, faded, carbon-fiber scoop which was a piece o' cake, the scoop just fell into place & fit perfect. the only hard part is getting the bonnet post in middle out of the way for getting 2nd tie-down 8mm nut on. Haven't figured that yet but I got time. I seriously like this scoop. .the receipt I got was from some guy in Mexico & listed the part for $90. yeh I found them listed for min. $50 more at other places. So, go to Leapworks & get the deal.. it is th
e scoop !

spent all day yesterday paintin', today = sealin' for gloss. I looked all around & decided I got The Deal. tomorrow = installation. $316 I can live with. this should be the end of all the personal, hopefully all maintenance from here.
