Black Out but only light bezels? Lame?

Hi all. I have a Chili Red car with the standard black grill trim (2023 so it's latest LCI) and standard black rear hatch panel above the license plate. Would it be totally dumb to just replace the headlight bezels and rear tails from standard chrome to black? I saw ONE car with black on the front and rear light bezels but left the door handles, gas cap, and belt line the standard chrome. I thought it looked good, but maybe it's a no-no? I have black mirrors and red-to-black multitone roof. Something about the chrome gas cap I have always loved, and still do.

Would anyone else ever consider that, or is it just bad? Does anyone have a preference for what black light bezels to use? I see MINI OEM units out there, but then so many on Amazon and other vendor sites. Thanks!!

yes you need to have everything matching including gas cap and door handles. this is not expensive at all if you buy the set through something like aliexpress.com it will just take 2-3 weeks to deliver it to you. Do not bastardize your car by not having it look consistent.

I left my door handles and beltline chrome -- but mainly because my car is midnight black and at risk of being hit by dumb***** at night if there is insufficient side-of-car reflectivity and/or illumination. Ask me how I know

That said, my headlamp and taillamp rings are blacked out (rings replaced, not covered), my center grille slat is blacked out (cover), my gas cap is blacked out (cover), and I put a chili red cover over the chrome front grille surround. All of those mods are aftermarket.

Mirror caps and body are already 100% black from the factory. OEM black wheels.

I feel like these cars purposely come with chrome so you can remove the chrome

my F-56 was built @ factory to sit on Miami Dealership showroom floor & sell MCs. it's Blazing Red Metallic. it was later lowered & perf. parted & hot-tuned. Look at my profile pics. still the same but driving light covers are now black.

This is not specifically a blackout option, but if you think blind spot mirror choices for a MINI suck because of both style and the shape of the glass real estate you have to give up to a giant circle or rectangle, check these out.

Egg-shaped blind spot mirrors Egg-shaped blind spot mirrors

Took a while for me to find something that worked for me in both style and function. Here's an on-MINI pic for reference. Any time you do car washing activity and get near the mirrors you may have to readjust them, they pivot on stalks that are 3Med to the main mirror glass. Other than that minor concern, I love these things.
