Very confused about DME unlock

I have a 2016 S which I assume is old enough to have been unlocked from factory. I did a check through Bootmod3 app to see if I can flash my DME. The screenshots attached seem to suggest that it's good to go. However, when I emailed this information to Bootmod3 support asking them about it, they respond I need a bench unlock without actually specifying what information they are using to come to that conclusion. Can anyone who knows about this stuff chime in?

Is your car already tuned? Wouldn't it have had to be unlocked to get the stage 1?

Gotcha.

I believe Lou @ PrototypeR can remote tune without removing your ECU

K. I'm still wondering though how they know it needs a bench unlock.

According to their website, if your car has the 2019+ version of the ECU software, you need a bench un-lock. Sounds like their "support" might just be blank responding saying you need it done to move forward.

Seriously though, I would send a quick email to Lou and see what he can do. He will work personally with you to determine your expectations and options before any transaction takes place.

Thank you I'll see what he says.
