Dealership Headache

I have a 2018 JCW and brought it into Mini of Bedford NH in August. Some small stuff no big deal like when arming or disarming the car doesn’t make a sound fir audio cue. Also the drivers seat stitching is coming apart towards top. They give me a loaner and I was to pick up next day. Three day later they told me to come get it.
upon arrival the head tech comes out and says the alarm audio doesn’t exist for your car as it wasn’t an option selected when the car was ordered. I told him the why is it a selectable option in the menu? He looked dumbfounded and looked for himself. He did find it and said he would look further into it.
second the seat cover he says has to be replaced but it will take two weeks to come in as it’s a special order from Germany but will be here in appx two weeks.
I have called numerous times now seeing it’s been five months and they are telling me Germany is short staffed due to Covid so it’s slowing shipping it out.

it’s a damn seat cover!!!! Why five+ months and still waiting? I mean a local upholstery shop would just pull it off and rest itch the 4” section. There’s nothing wrong with the seat other than a 4” stitch let go. I’m not sure if I should be calling someone else. Crazy!

I gave up on the my JCW seat getting fixed, it's also a 3-4" section where the stitching is coming undone. Kind of near the rear handle release. Dealership basically told me the same thing and then a few months later the dealership closed for good. Let us know if it ever gets fixed. GL

Can you post a pic? FYI: I got my car from MINI of Peabdy (same owners). I wouldn't doubt the Covid delay, bicycles are sold out till 2022.

They are being honest about delays from Germany. Before covid we could get rush order parts in less than a week and standard order parts in 7-10 days. Now with covid rush order parts are at least 2 week and standard parts are about a month.

Not all dealers will spend the extra money to rush parts as BMW charges them even if your car is in for service because the dealer is not going to charge you for rushing the part. If they don't rush order the part and other dealers are rush ordering the same part their orders are put in front of your dealers and the part gets delayed.

Our dealership rush orders all parts for service so the customer can get their car back. The parts department absorbs the rush fee.

I get it but like you said about a month. I’ve been waiting so far 5 months and still hasn’t been shipped they are saying.

The part is probably on backorder from the manufacturer with being that long. All BMW can do is order it from their supplier who is probably having issues with covid too. Good luck, hopefully they get the part soon.

Here a pic of my seat...I'll bring up the issue with the new dealership in April when it's maintenance time. Maybe they'll actually take care of it.
