I guess I won't have the paddles option anymore. The wheel actually comes with the large round plastic back, so that part doesn't need to be swapped over. That screw in what looks like a back arm panel (directly under the paddle) is for the front face plate. The arm panel where the paddles are attached isn't a panel at all. It's a rubbery section which is molded and bonded around the steering wheel arm, front to back, all one solid piece. There are no holes for the paddle wire to pass through, and no mounting points to attach the paddles. Unless someone can drill holes and router small rectangles into the back of the rubber pads, or cut up and glue on their $730 brand new steering wheel, it's probably not modification that's worth it. There's no way the finish is going to be as good as how it was made. I don't use the paddles, only the manual side of the stick, so it kind of hurts taking away the looks and functionality, even thought I don't use it. But overall the wheel is nice, about a billion times better than the stock wheel with grey stitching. Also, I didn't swap the oem wiring harness into the new wheel. The paddles use one extra wire and a ground. (It's the brown ground in the center of the metal frame.) The new wheel is wired for no paddles.
So there's no way to get this wheel to work with Paddle Shifters? We've bought two (one for a JCW with paddle shifters and one without) and was looking at the first one that came in. We couldn't see anywhere to get the paddle shifters to work. Any help on this matter? We'd like to maintain the Paddle Shifter Compatibility.

It's like I said in my post. If you have paddle shifters, consider them gone. This wheel won't work with them, and can't be modified to work with them. I've asked the ecstuning person on this forum to remove where it says the wheel can be modified from the actual ecstuning page. Last I checked, their site still says the wheel can be modified for paddles, which it can't.

We made the change on our site now and we are working with Euro Impulse to come out with a paddle shifter version in the future. Might be a while. We will let you know.

Just checked the ECSTuning website on this:

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-euro-imp...3/mc3-cfs~eim/

Update** Does not come with Carbon Fiber in the 2 control pad inserts (spoke trim inserts) and bottom carbon fiber U insert cover as in the past as well as rubberized factory backing** you will have to replace/swap with your factory button pads and the backing.

This is wrong. The backing is MOLDED around the "spokes" of the wheel. There is no replacing swapping of the backing. It's molded and sealed to the wheel spoke with no cutouts for the paddles. That's the main reason why the paddles can't be moved to the new wheel. That and backing mold doesn't include the cutouts to mount the shifters, and the wheel doesn't include the extra wiring that runs through the, "molded around the spokes backing" to the back shifters.

** The wheel is a factory OEM MINI wheel which is then finely crafted by hand with a newer design, these are used factory wheels then remodeled. The OEM pads/buttons are reused the stock steering wheel.**
At least try to make it grammatically correct. ----->The OEM pads/buttons are reused the stock steering wheel. <-------

The front buttons (Call, volume, etc on the right spoke, and Cruise control, etc on the left spoke) and top covers for those controls, and the bottom spoke "U" cover, are moved from the OEM wheel to the new wheel.

It's cool that the effort was made though. I really appreciate a company that listens.

Steering wheel

Just saw this post and was extremely disappointed to learn that the wheel does not offer or allow for paddle shifters. I recently placed my order on ECS last week but now am having second thoughts as this is a major game changer for me as I use the paddles on my JCW wheel all the time. I had planned on switching out parts from one wheel to the other, but that doesn’t seem to be possible. Problem is this wheel seems to be the only game in town for the price. My ship date is sometime in Oct so plenty of time to decide or perhaps find an alternative.

Quick update, just spoke to someone at El Motorsport and they do offer a paddle friendly version. ECS please add it to your website so I can place my order.

Spoke with El Motorsports over the weekend and they informed me that they do in fact offer a paddle friendly version of their CF wheel. I notified `ECS and requested they add price and pn onto their site. Hopefully we will see an update next week. El told me their standard lead time is 3-5 weeks once the receive an order.

That's the new model allowing the paddles to swap over? That's awesome! And you're awesome for getting that going. Anyone without paddles looking to buy a thick carbon fiber steering wheel?
