Hi everyone. What product do you use to clean the black plastic wheel/fender trim? Over the last almost 3 years mine have started looking dirty and have white streaks. It's not like Jeep Wrangler fender flare gray fading yet, but you can see soap and wax residue. How can I clean the trim thoroughly without fading them from black to gray?

Thanks!

I've used spray 409 on mine. If I want to restore the darker black color I use "Back to Black" on the flare. If you hand wax, be doubly careful to keep any wax off them, That stuff never seems to come off regardless of what I've used.

I’ve been using Black Wow for the past three years. It’s been better and longer lasting than other products I’ve used. I recently bought PreWow to clean and prep the plastic. It has helped tremendously in keeping my flares black and clean for much longer than just the Black Wow alone.

I’ve actually had a lot of luck with Armor All Outlast. It’s a cream you apply with a microfiber or Ian applicator and then buff off any excess. Goes on easily and lasts a while (usually several months).

Black Wow is the stuff. Go visit the old "Detailing 101" section, everything you need to know resides therein. Richard Lin shared a lot of wisdom,

Thanks everyone! I hope to take a few hours to attack the trim this coming week or weekend. I had to use some actual black dye to fix the trim under the windshield that had actually gone gray/nearly white. I glad the fender trim isn't that bad yet and will hopefully prevent more damage by cleaning and treating them.

My wiper cowl was fading too and I had it replaced by the dealer under warranty just last week.

I asked my service advisor about it and she said Mini wouldn’t do it. :(

Try 303 Protectant. Brings the black back and has UV inhibitors. Great on all exterior black rubber and plastic and interior vinyl. Goes on easily then buff dry.

VRP is great for tires and gives them the right sheen but, sucks on interior plastics , doesn’t last and actually leaves streaks on window control panels. Plus , their customer service is terrible ….

If you're looking for a multi-year solution I would recommend looking into AMMO NYC Frame Pro Trim Coat
- Easy to apply! Going on two years since the first application and the trim looks better than new

https://ammonyc.com/products/ammo-frame-pro-trim-coat

Before applying you need to degrease the wheel arch trim with dish soap or their Brute Wheel soap

https://ammonyc.com/products/ammo-brute-wheel-soap

Hope this helps and motor on -Rich

I tried Sonax Tire Gloss on the trim as I use it on my tires. Works really well.
